Default Lesson Learned : Eat Breakfast

My usual breakfast is pumpkin oatmeal. It takes a while to eat it, and it fills me up.

Yesterday I was in a rush to get out the door so I skipped it. I brought some yogurt and cheese sticks with me figuring I'd eat those. Well, I only got through 1/2 the yogurt, had the cheese sticks a while later and was then starving the whole day no matter what I ate. I finally made a pizza at 4pm and called it dinner, then went for a glass of wine with a friend.

I was within my points for the day but I did not feel energized at all!

So, this morning I'm back on my pumpkin oats, and will be tomorrow, too. No more skipping breakfast!

Pumpkin oatmeal:
1/2 cup dry oat meal (not instant)
1/4 cup canned pumpkin
2/3 cup water
few shakes of pumpkin pie spice
dash of salt
cook until done.

add 1 tsp butter, drizzle of maple syrup.

After that meal this morning I went up to my moms, had a little brie, lox, bread, some port. Came home and counted it all. Totally within my points. Now I'm eating some cauliflower and shrimp to get some more veggies & protein in.

I feel so much better than yesterday!

I agree. I've experienced exactly what you described -- even if I eat well the rest of the day, I'm never full, nor energized. I'm working on leaving enough time in the morning for breakfast.

I'm also discovering that eating on a schedule really helps.

I've also learned that I really need protein with each meal. If I don't get my protein...I am hungry again soon And yes.....everybody please eat your breakfast!!

Amen. Breakfast is a must for me and has been for many years.

I can't stand to be around me if I haven't had a balanced breakfast.

Do you put the pumpkin in while it is cooking or do you add it in after it is done.

While it's cooking. That way it gets absorbed and isn't too watery.
