  • Becca.....

That is great to hear that your leader told you not to worry if we don't eat all of our points. I have yet to eat all of mine and yet I'm completely full and satisfied.

Thanks for sharing that tidbit with us!!

    Ditto

Oh, and you are right, it's not really based on calories. It's just a rough guess-timate if you happen to be in a jam. Just remember to bring your calculator and your book and you'll be fine. If you do get into a jam, use the 40 calorie average and then go home and fix it, because it is not accurate.
  • Quote: I'm confused.. at our meeting today they told us that calories were taken out of the equation for getting PointsPlus values. Did I miss something?
Calories as such are not part of the calculation. The calculation uses protein, carbs, fats, and fiber.

However remember that carb and protein grams are 4 calories each and fat grams are 9 calories each.

So the formula just breaks down the calories into what kind of calorie it is.

When I said a PointPlus worked out for me last week at 39 calories per point that was based upon my independently counting the calories that I ate and comparing them to how many points it was. And it basically usually worked out to between 37 and 40 calories a point depending upon what I ate. Of course, I calculate my actual points based upon using the calculator but if all I had was the calorie count of something I could estimate it get a ballpark amount until I could look it up precisely.
  • Hi there,

I have the new WW Getting Started Guide but NO WHERE can I find how to calculate what my daily totals should be. If I used to be at 20 daily points, approximately how many would I get now? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  • couturecowgirl - The only way to get your personal PointsPlus are to go to a meeting or center, use a PointsPlus calculator or use the online etools. The formula now takes into account your gender, weight, height, and age. I can tell you they told us the MINIMUM PointsPlus you will have per day is 29, and weekly you will have 49 flex PointsPlus. Hope this helps!
  • Cowgirl, until you can get to a meeting, I'd go with 29 points but remember that they are all so different now and basically most of the points are pretty much tripled on carbs. But free fruits and veggies are great. An egg is still 2 points. I figured out roast chicken for dinner this evening and was suprised that one whole breast with skin was only 4 points and I believe it was 5 on the old plan, one without skin is only 3 points. I love the skin if it is crispy and cannot resist it, so I am counting the points and will enjoy it this evening. I was also surprised that one cup of rice was the same number of points weather it be brown or white when I looked it up.
I'm enjoying this so far. Not sure what the final weigh in will be on Tuesday for this week but I think that I am going to have a loss. I plan on being very well behaved between now and then.
  • Can't wait to learn about the new plan only coming out this week in Canada.
Canada is the last to know as usual. It is interesting to read about the plan based on everyone elses views and thoughts.
  • derrydaughter - thank you so much for your kind words. I'll be looking up your site for bereavement. Things get harder by the day but i've been on track with WW all weekend which helps.
