[QUOTE=derrydaughter;3587460]One tip I'll offer is to cut up an apple and microwave it with Splenda and cinnamon on it, and it tastes like apple pie. You can enjoy it like a dessert. : )
Linda, Do you have to add water or anything when doing this apple thing? How long do you microwave it for? Do you use one whole apple? How much cinnamon? How much splenda? (Sorry to be so stupid ~ I'm not very good at winging it :o This looks like just what I have been looking for. In the winter (cold weather) I have trouble wanting to eat cold fruits and cold vegetables. I like them, but am wanting something warm. |
I love putting a frozen banana, a bit of sweetner, and some ice cubes in a blender and it makes a soft serve ice cream! You can add a bit of water or non-fat milk if it is too thick.

No calories. You have to use protein, carbohydrates, fiber, fat now. The old slide rule will not work. There is also no slide rule for the new program. You need to either use the blue book they give you, purchase other books, use their online tools, or purchase their calculator. I went to the Sunday meeting, and I love the new program! I am eating much healthier, and feeling much more satisfied. Not having cravings for chips or sweets. :) |

Also another thing that has helped me a lot today is that in the getting started book on page 16 theres a suggested points target breakdown by meal chart and they list your points target and break meals down. I actually like this and have met the target of each so far today. My dinner however is suggested to be 11 points and I'm only going to have a ground turkey stuffed red pepper and brown rice. that's 8 points. I need at least one or two more things to get me to or a little over 11.

Dried fruit is not 0 points or canned/frozen fruit with added sugar. Canned fruits must be drained.
|
Susan,
If you drain and rinse the juice or liquid off of canned fruits ~ then are the 0 points? |
No, they're sitting in juices..which means they absorb them.

Glynn, I cut up an entire apple in bite size pieces, I then sprinkle about 1/2 packet of Splenda over top and then about 1/4 tsp of cinnamon sprinkled over and a pinch of nutmeg as well. I then put a few drops of water in to help steam it and cover before microwaving for about 2 - 2 1/2 minutes. You can let it go a bit longer if you like it mushy, but I like the pieces to still hold together. I don't peel my apple, but you can do that if you want to.

Thank you Linda :)
