[QUOTE=derrydaughter;3587460]One tip I'll offer is to cut up an apple and microwave it with Splenda and cinnamon on it, and it tastes like apple pie. You can enjoy it like a dessert. : )

Linda, Do you have to add water or anything when doing this apple thing? How long do you microwave it for? Do you use one whole apple? How much cinnamon? How much splenda? (Sorry to be so stupid ~ I'm not very good at winging it :o This looks like just what I have been looking for. In the winter (cold weather) I have trouble wanting to eat cold fruits and cold vegetables. I like them, but am wanting something warm.

I love putting a frozen banana, a bit of sweetner, and some ice cubes in a blender and it makes a soft serve ice cream! You can add a bit of water or non-fat milk if it is too thick.

I've been doing that apple thing for a very long time. I'll bet the concept would work well with other fruit as well?
Looking forward to making the effort. I hope the upcoming Christmas season doesn't sabotage this. But, that is a few weeks away and I can make some headway between now and then. I only have one party so far, and of course it is tomorrow. But, there will be salad and fruit salad there, as it is pot luck. One of our group is a vegetarian and someone is making vegetarian vegetable soup. So, I know three things I can fill up on. : )

Also, I wonder if dried fruits will be free too?

dried fruits are not free. Only fresh, frozen, no sugar added, canned in juice or water - drained.

Hi everyone.....

I've always liked WW with one exception....I was always starving!! 20 points just didn't seem to be enough. This new plan has sparked some interest for me. Are we still gonna be using the same slider? And I'm wondering if the total points for the day will be less.

old program should hit a garbage can, recycling bin, whatever. It's completely new.

No calories. You have to use protein, carbohydrates, fiber, fat now.

The old slide rule will not work. There is also no slide rule for the new program. You need to either use the blue book they give you, purchase other books, use their online tools, or purchase their calculator.

I went to the Sunday meeting, and I love the new program! I am eating much healthier, and feeling much more satisfied. Not having cravings for chips or sweets. :)

Forgot to add that the new minimum points is 29. It is the minimum number of points required to get your daily nutrition requirements. And there are a lot of people who are at this number, and losing successfully, and still fully satisfied. :)

Also another thing that has helped me a lot today is that in the getting started book on page 16 theres a suggested points target breakdown by meal chart and they list your points target and break meals down. I actually like this and have met the target of each so far today. My dinner however is suggested to be 11 points and I'm only going to have a ground turkey stuffed red pepper and brown rice. that's 8 points. I need at least one or two more things to get me to or a little over 11.

Dried fruit is not 0 points or canned/frozen fruit with added sugar. Canned fruits must be drained.

Susan,

If you drain and rinse the juice or liquid off of canned fruits ~ then are the 0 points?

PeanutM91 11-30-2010 05:33 PM

No, they're sitting in juices..which means they absorb them.

That is what the getting started guide said. :)

Glynn, I cut up an entire apple in bite size pieces, I then sprinkle about 1/2 packet of Splenda over top and then about 1/4 tsp of cinnamon sprinkled over and a pinch of nutmeg as well. I then put a few drops of water in to help steam it and cover before microwaving for about 2 - 2 1/2 minutes. You can let it go a bit longer if you like it mushy, but I like the pieces to still hold together. I don't peel my apple, but you can do that if you want to.

Thank you Linda :)
