I'm excited about the changes. I've been doing WW for a couple of months now and I'm doing ok on it, but if its gonna be better and healtier, I'm all for it.

mmel3283 11-16-2010 12:03 PM

ACK! If that's the new formula...my current fat free ice cream/ frozen yogurt Edys Blend went from 1 pt per serving to 5.

Boooo...

It's not like I eat it a lot...but it was my "guilty pleasure"

I'll have to find a new one. :) I get what they're saying, and it makes sense. At least servings of fruit if it's true will be zero per serving.

mmel3283 11-16-2010 12:05 PM

I'm pumped about free mangoes. haha

And don't forget you will get more daily and weekly Points.

That is true. It was just a shock to see that much of a jump. I was thinking...ok...it'll be worth like 3pts or something. haha. 5.1

derrydaughter 11-16-2010 08:25 PM

I'm getting nervous. I sure hope that the changes are not that drastic.

Hi everyone
I'm not sure if our plans will be exactly the same (I'm in NZ), but our propoints got launched today so I thought I'd share the blurb that was on my tracker - I'm an online member. I'm having a look through now and it looks great!
Sorry if any of this information is old-hat, but I wanted to share in case there is something here that wasnt known as yet.

There's more if you want to read it. :)

derrydaughter 11-17-2010 07:49 AM

Thanks for your effort, but that link didn't work.
Oh well.
We are impatient here in the USA. It's hard to understand why this plan is being offered elsewhere and we, who seem to have the largest market, are not getting it yet.
I'm nervous, though. I depend on certain foods to feel full. I have dietary restrictions due to a health issue and I fear that I might not be able to follow this as easily as some. We shall see in a few weeks.

MrsBonsai 11-17-2010 10:21 AM

Remove all spaces & returns, and convert all DOT to . There are no spaces in the first or 3rd part, just around the DOT. :) It does not need the three w's, just the usual ht you know tp with the : and the // :)

Sorry, I don't have 25 posts yet apparently so I can't post it completely.

derrydaughter, I wouldn't worry too much. Though many foods are going to be higher in points, the overall daily allowance is rising, too, so it will sort of "even out". The biggest changes will be in heavily processed or nutritionally deficient foods - things like 100 calorie packs won't be the bargain they used to be. I don't know what your health issues are, but I'm assuming that the foods that are OK for you are probably quite healthy - in some cases, they may be fewer points on the new plan. :)

Not true - on the new plan you will be able to eat most fruits and vegetables until satisfaction for 0 points, regardless if you have more than what constitutes a serving or not at any given time.

Yup. The link I posted, the replies said she put 10 bananas in for a serving to test it, and they were still 0 points.

QuilterInVA 11-17-2010 03:09 PM

Yep, carbs will be costly.

The reason they are waiting to bring it to the US is because we are the largest market. They have to test it out in smaller markets in order to gauge how well it works, and to address members' feeling and concerns about it. At least that is how it works in my industry when we pilot new programs. That being said I hope that this plan is only better than the last which I'm sure it is :)

Meikmeika 11-17-2010 08:09 PM

The anticipation is killing me!!! LOL!!!

I can see there's going to be a big change.... My Arnold's Thin Breads are a little over 3 pts with the ProPoints calc, where now they are 1 pt.

I still keep thinking that if we're allotted more daily & weekly points & it all evens out, why change....... I'm also thinking that psychologically it's more appealing to say I get 29 points as opposed to 19 points a day (Not saying that's how it is but there's something about starting with a larger number that makes me feel better (unless it's the number on the scale!).

Granmums 11-17-2010 10:19 PM

Hi...its already been released in the UK. if you do a search in Google...search GOOGLE UK...thengo to Google UK you are in UK's google area...just like the US but UK....then search for Pro Point plan....
It looks interesting. All the old pt. system is tossed out the window. A new way of calculating daily points, new extra points for everyone...and a whole lot of different eating options...some good, some not so good. Fruit is now free though.

derrydaughter 11-18-2010 07:20 AM

I am looking forward to the free fruit part. My health issue is Diverticulosis. Sometimes I cannot have high fiber and I certainly cannot have popcorn, nuts, seeds and things of that nature. I even "seed" my tomatoes and cucumbers are off limits nowadays. It will be interesting to see what happens. I will be trying, though.

SweetCurves32 11-20-2010 04:45 PM

I just rejoined WW Online, and I am really looking forward to the new plan! I can't wait to start making all the changes. :carrot:

Do they not take into account calories anymore? Calories isn't listed on the calculator...

That's what they said. They said something like calories were up to 25% wrong and they took them out of the equation.

I am also looking forward to starting the new plan. My leader told us that it took them three years to put together.

Fruits no points is the way it should be.

Jojo381972 11-20-2010 09:41 PM

I just found this good article about the mechanics on how the new and old system work.
http://www.thefactsaboutfitness.com/research/diet.htm

derrydaughter 11-21-2010 07:09 AM

I really do hope that fruits end up free as we are hearing. Yesterday, I had a full day of eating and was already into flex points. Yet, we were home and it was dessert time and my husband was getting ice cream. I felt hungry and would have felt completely deprived if I had nothing. So, I ate a banana. I'm writing it down and tracking it as per the program we have now, but I didn't feel anywhere near as guilty as I might ordinarily feel.
I'm going shopping tomorrow afternoon and am going to guy ingredients to make a fruit salad that might end up being my saving grace over the next few days.

spryng 11-21-2010 09:30 AM

that is a great link jojo! I'm saving that in my favorites because I'm sure once we are all on this plan and people are having doubts or not understanding it this will be wonderful to refer them to! :)

Aclai4067 11-21-2010 11:32 AM

One week left until they unveil the new plan!

locks 11-21-2010 02:22 PM

Hello everyone, being new here, giving a wave to everyone. I cant wait either for the new plan! Only been here two weeks, but feel very motivated.

derrydaughter 11-22-2010 05:50 AM

I cleaned out cabinets yesterday looking for my Christmas card list (still have not found it!) and decided to chuck the materials from the last 3 WW plans into my recycling bin. Now, that is a commitment to something fresh and new, I must say!
I'm ready to try.
I also want to share something new with you all, while here. We went out to dinner last night and I wanted to look at Longhorn Steakhouse's on line menu ahead of time before we went. I was surprised and happy that they finally have posted nutritional information on all their foods on their web site. For years, they didn't do that and one would have to guess.
I had citrus grilled chicken with their rice. I found that their fat free ranch dressing was only 45 calories (and used about 1/3rd) of what was given to me. I had the tiniest piece of bread. I think I did well as I was armed with proper information. I have written to Longhorn before about this and gotten a whishy washy answer that "all our foods are individually prepared" and that they cannot provide the information. I guess they bent, finally, to popular demand.
I will have steak there again (it's our family favorite place to eat out) but I know for sure what nutritional information is available to me there.
I might have been a bit less careful there last night, but with Thanksgiving coming this week and a houseful of food and company, you can't be too careful!

PeanutM91 11-22-2010 11:01 PM

I've looked up a videos from members for the new ProPoints plan on youtube and a lot of people LOVE it. These videos are majority from the UK since it's already launched there. I'm a little nervous for it to start however I'm also anxious to see if it will work better, more effectively, and quicker or if I'll prefer the old plan.

vanilla bunnie 11-23-2010 12:57 AM

I have a monthly pass and my weigh in day is Thursday so I was thinking of hitting a meeting on the 29th just to see what the fuss is.

yeah my weigh-ins are on wednesdays but I may go Monday.

pointspluspioneer 11-23-2010 11:08 AM

I am SO excited about this plan! My friend goes now and her leader has mentioned how great the new program is. I"m starting Sunday! I need to get on track before the holidays!!

krisangel128 11-23-2010 11:50 AM

I'm a current WWer been on the program since 6/1/10 and I just got my 50 lb charm.. total weight loss = 56.6 lbs!!! I'm a bit nervous about the new program but I will listen to my leader's instructions and see how it goes!

pointspluspioneer 11-23-2010 11:58 AM

I'm excited because i think what never worked for me at WW is that i was eating too many carbs and this new calculater looks like those are the foods it has made higher points.

I just hate the first day when they tell you your starting weight, i have a REAL hard time with that :(

chubbymommy724 11-23-2010 12:20 PM

Newbie here. Hi everyone! :D

I'm actually excited about the new program. I just started WW (on my own) again 2 weeks ago and this time I am stressing eating healthy foods (veggies, fruit, lean protein) instead of just staying within my points. I think this new system will really work with the new way I am eating.

I will actually have to come up with the cash to join online though so that's a downside.

derrydaughter 11-24-2010 07:01 AM

Just a few more days and we'll all have the information and I hope we continue this or some other thread to talk through and understand the changes.
Funny thing. I'm going to my WW meeting and literally driving to meet someone for lunch afterwards. Good planning? Hmmm.... But, I can order what I think it right. It's Legal Seafoods and they have healthy choices.

PeanutM91 11-24-2010 09:25 AM

ya know derry..I never realized this but we both live in new england lol.
I'm in MA in Cambridge.
So I think I'm the only one who knows what legal seafood is

WendyRN 11-24-2010 10:50 AM

Hey guys! Only a few more days!

Hope everyone has a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving!

I did weigh in a day early today and I'm going into the holidays even smaller! YAY! I'm so excited for the new program to start next week and I'm certain it will be better than ever!;)

CANT WAIT!
I think the new program is just what I need.

KimberlyP 11-24-2010 02:18 PM

This morning I went to my weigh in and my leader made coffee and told me if I wanted some to just go in the stock room and grab a cup. I don't think I was supposed to see this but all the new material and books were right there in front of me and the new pocket guide says 'Pro Points' on the cover. I didn't want to look through it because I knew I would have felt terrible after for sneaking a peak. I'm pretty sure this is the same plan they have in England.

mmel3283 11-24-2010 02:19 PM

I totally would have looked. haha.

I wonder how they're going to do SmartOnes?
