Default New,offical WW member~and not as hoped

It's not as though I expect anyone to hold my hand throughout this challenge, but I must admit that at my joining yesterday afternoon I was disappointed. The speaker was not informative or motivating. I do realize I'm the one that has to motivate myself, and float my own boat so to speak, but I did expect more of a send off on this journey. That being said, I really don't know what I need to know. I went to the ww website to see if I could get more info. and after trying for a couple of hrs. I couldn't get registered grrrrso I emailed them...'what's up'..etc.no answer,so tried again this morning-nada. Feeling kind of dazed and confusedwith lots of questions, and in need of support to at least get off the ground. Thanks for listening...I needed to verbalize.Choices~

WW is a great program but, let's face it, not every leader is going to appeal to everyone. Are there other meetings in your area so you can try a different leader and see if you can find one that "lights your fire"?

Like Ms Ladynredd says, try another meeting. I had to go to a bunch to find one I really liked. But she just left due to personal reasons (her DH is ill) so I am back doing the rounds to see what happens...

Hang in there!

Yes, try other meetings! I know I had a sub this week and it was horrible. She didn't have any of the energy that my regular leader has.

Thanks abunch ladies...I will def.try other meetings, with different 'personalities'..I can understand that not everyone is 'up' all the time, and after awhile the messages get so memorized they become boring.
I'm in this full throttle,...so no giving up here~;o)
p.s. question, is the whole bag of goodies, cookbooks, and tracker book worth the $$,and do you recall what the kit cost? So far I've just purchassed the little computerized points finder.
Thanks again~

Let us know how your next meeting goes! At the WW I attend, there are meetings each day of the week, 2-3 times a day and there are 4 different leaders! I was fortunate because I love my leader... but, maybe if you went at a different time/day, you would find a new leader! Good luck

Sorry, I posted without answering your other question. Personally, I bought the Dining Out book, which was a waste of money for me and my area because 90% of the restaurants in the book I have never heard of! I found myself using the calculator every day!! I also buy the journal, which I write in each day. I have the complete food list book, which has came in handy quite a few times! Other than that, I did not buy anything else...

I would also go to a local major bookstore for WW cookbooks because there are some out there that I use all the time, and others where I just don't use a thing. I like to check them out before I buy them.

The Dining Out companion is OK, but the new one doesn't list alot of the Canadian restaurants that I use, whereas my OLD one from 5 years ago does. So I use my old one -- it is close enough, IMHO.

I have a calculator which is really small and I like it for when I grocery shop. I keep it in my handbag all the time, so no excuses!!!

I got the one with lunch bag, DVD and books. The DVD has workouts on it that I have used a few times. I use the complete book the most but the dining out companion was a lifesaver when I first (re)started because I ate at Wendy's a lot. It just depends on your life.

I went to ONE meeting last summer. It was horrid as was the facilitator. HORRID! I was even harrassed--she kept asking me questions and then kept asking the group--"Group, IS SHE RIGHT?" blah, blah, blah...I could not get out of there fast enough..

I do believe in the WW principles and use many of them myself..I also Google recipes from WW from time to time and have a couple of the books...but the facilitator--well, in my earlier days I would have been waitin' on her.

Hey, by the way--I am not sure if it's like this everywhere but I did TRY to go to another meeting. I called the center and explained to them I would like to try a different presenter. They told me if I had been to one FREEBIE I couldn't go to another. I certainly was not going to sign up with THAT lady!

I had already lost about 20 pounds alone before going. I just decided to continue my journey with support on the web. I found a couple of sites but 3FC has been the best.

Shocker! Then DH comes home with a gallon of ice cream, and a bag of Fritos....geez. Is this a test???? There is NO WAY, I'm going down that road, no no no no no way...be strong, and be honest..(another mantra..gosh, I'm getting so many ) Thanks kiddo's,I do appreciate your feedback. Choices

I love my leader. I hate my meeting. I get my support from 3FC I motivate myself in various ways (my own "tracker", my own exercise goals, clothing goals, etc).

I'm in the Netherlands so I'm not sure about WW products, except I imagine the shopping guide is really helpful, just like it is here. I usually look up recipes online and then tweek them myself. But that's just me, I don't really like to follow things to a "t" so if I can change it to my liking and stick to the plan (which I do ) then I'm happy!

I am so sorry that your experience was lacking. I have joined weight watchers on 3 different occasions but this time I realize just how special my leader is. She takes sooo much personal time with me. When I hit a plateau she asked to see my tracker everyweek and looked through it to find some possible problem areas. She helps me with my motivation and I honestly know that I would not have made it to my 76 lb weight loss without her. PLEASE keep trying to find the right person because it makes all the difference in the world.

Thumbs up WOW...what a difference!

I just ran out the door in the middle of cleaning house, and told DH,I'll be back in a hr. I went to a meeting to see if I could at least get some help getting online, which refused to let me log on to,and to use the calculator. Man what a difference. Helpful and smiling, and they know stuff! I couldn't stay, but they were just great,so I'm remembering the names of those that have the energy, information I need. I bought the small kit, with the log in bk.and resturant bk.along with the bible of points. I think I have a chance at learning this stuff now. This lady was kind of shocked that I hadn't been told about some important details. It helps to know where I'm goingHappy Days...Choices
p.s.I'm sure glad you all are here~
