Did I blow it?

  • My son broke up with his girlfriend of 3 years last night. Today he was all teary eyed and miserable so I suggested we go out to lunch. I had a greek salad in mind, he wanted pancakes. So we went to ihop.

I ordered a country omlet. I couldnt help myself. It was like I was on autopilot. Anyway.... when it was brought to our table I felt guilty looking at it. I ate less than half of it but I did eat all 3 pancakes.

Breakfast today as 5.5 points but IF I did the math right, lunch was 17

There's a real possibility that lunch was OVER 17 points. If it was did I blow the whole day or can it be saved somehow (other than starting from square 1 tomorrow)
  • It can be saved That's what your 35 weekly points are for!
  • Thanks I was feeling like I trashed the whole week in one comfort lunch

I dont really understand the whole extra point/activity thing so I usually just ignore it and stay with the 28 a day plan.
  • Nope you sure did not blow it! That is what those 35 extra points a week are for. Just use up today's points and subtract any more that you use over your 28 from the 35.

It's not always good to ignore the 35 extra weekly points. They're there to be used.

If you're unclear about them, ask your leader Or ask someone here to clarify.
  • The others are right. You didn't blow it. Use your 35 extra points.

On the whole blowing it, falling off plan, cheating thing. I decided when that happens to me I am no longer going to feel guilty, shameful, bad, or whatever and I'm not going to spend one second mentally flogging myself. It doesn't burn any calories and it won't take away the food you ate. I just get right back op and don't worry about it.

If I can fit it in I'll walk a little more and maybe shave off my evening snack for a few days.

Besides, life just happens to us some days. That is why I think WW is such a great plan. It builds in a safety net with the extra 35. None of us are perfect and there are going to be days like that.

As you progress, you gain more knowledge and you get a better handle on yourself and better choices get easier to make too.
  • I don't know if you blew it or not, but man did your post make me hungry for IHOP!!! LOL
  • I am going to focus on what you all said and not believe that extra pound on the war-scale this morning

Seriously. I do have a lot to learn yet. I joined WW online. I'm not doing the meetings yet so I dont have any *in-front of me* people to ask these questions. Once I go back to work I'll do both. I've learned what little I know from this site, their site and my friend google.

Thanks for taking the time to answer a noobs questions
  • Oh! Then it will be easy! Go ahead and log the points from lunch (have you been to Dotti's Weight Loss Zone? www.dwlz.com It has points for almost every restaurant you can think of!). WW online automatically subtracts your Flex points for you in the tracker, so it will handle the thinking about it.
  • It is not that bad. You went off for a minute. I have lost 130 lbs on WW and I do that stuff then and now. We just have to get started again as soon as possible
