Default Thin4Life - Week of 11/10/08

Hello, everyone. It was a beautiful weekend here. The sun was shining and there was a breeze. I worked at a 15K on Saturday and then went to an audition for "Sound of Music." I think it went well--we'll see. Went for a long walk yesterday right before the concert. The concert was super.

Melissa, so sorry about your loss. Glad that your DS's team is in the playoffs.

I had my appointment last week with the specialist in Portland, OR and got good news. He thinks that, since my remission tests are still negative right now, that even if I do come out of remission at some point during the pregnancy, it won't be far enough to need treatment and that he thinks I can make it all the way through without having to go back on the medication. I am VERY happy about that because it means the baby won't be exposed to the medication AT ALL.

I haven't weighed myself in a while. At the doctor's on Thursday I was 182.5 (with sneakers and clothes on) so I'm guessing maybe I am up 12 instead of 10 now? Don't know. I should weigh myself tomorrow! I need to catch up on last week's thread.

Lori, What great news! That is terrific; one less thing to worry about.

Gina, Everyone is different. I actually lost more! Some of my friends gained. It depends how you adjust your points. Good luck.

Good evening ladies!

Lori: That's great news! You have to feel good about that!

Lisa: What part did you audition for in the Sound of Music?

Gina: I think I lost a little more once I went on maintenance. It's been 9 years since I hit goal and I can't totally remember. Each person is different. It can also depend on your age...when I hit goal I was in my 30's and now I'm in my 40's and things change.

We had snow last night--woke up this morning to about 6" of heavy, wet snow. It was tricky driving to work this morning. I just went in for a little bit so I could go to the funeral this morning. THe trees looked beautiful with the snow on the branches--it looked like a picture from Currier & Ives.

My surgery is scheduled for 11 am tomorrow morning and I need to be at the surgery center by 9:45. The good news is that I can have a cup of coffee as long as it's before 8 am...so guess who's getting up early to enjoy that simple pleasure!

I'm hoping with the time off I can regroup and relax a little. It's been an emotional week. My dad is getting settled in at the nursing home and even though I know it's for the best I still feel guilty.

I'll try and post after my surgery to let you know how thing went but I'm not sure how that will go. Keep the fires burning ladies and I'll be back!

Melissa, I'm amazed how much snow you've received, but then again it is November. As for us in Florida--it will be 80 today.

I had to laugh--yes, things change in your 40's, but just wait till you're like me in your 50's--HA!

You are in my prayers for your surgery. I pray that the Lord will guide the surgeon's hands. How long will you be out of work?

You asked about the audition. I auditioned for Mother Abbess who sings "Climb Every Mountain." It's the only part I want. I've played that part before; it's a great one.

Hi ladies,

No snow yet but it sure is cold today. Actually we've been a little spoiled with unseasonably high temps. This weekend it was in the 60's. I had a nice weekend, got lots of Christmas shopping done. Eating wise not so good . DH got back home at 2 am Monday morning. Flight delays in Charlotte...yuck. It's good to have him back home.

Lisa I hope you get the part. 80 degrees...I want to be in Florida. Your DH got back this weekend too right?

Lori Yeah for the good test results. I can't imagine how relieved you must be. Your weight gain seems reasonable, your about 4 months now?

Melissa good luck tomorrow. Wake up early, have a nice cup of coffee and try to relax. I hope you can post and let us know how you're doing. I'll be thinking of you.

Well ladies I'm still at the office so I better get going. I've got grocery shopping to do tonight. Have a good night!

Well ladies I got on a scale the other day - up 14 pounds. I'm a little bummed - I thought it would be less, around 12 or so. The doctor isn't worried though, and now that I'm through the first trimester (and the nausea) I'm able to eat "normally" again

Gina - I did gain a few pounds back before I "settled" at a weight. Everyone is different, though!

Melissa - Good luck with your surgery! 8am is early? I get up at 5:45 on weekdays!

Lisa - I hope you get the part! 80 would be nice. I think it was 40 out when I left my house this morning. No snow here yet either, but we don't normally get any until after Thanksgiving.

Pam - Did you take advantage of the Veretan's Day sales? I went to Macy's with my coupon and shopped in the Motherhood section... where they apparently do not take the coupon I do about 75% of my Christmas shopping on Black Friday. For the past 3 years, I have stayed over my friend Yan's house the night of Thanksgiving and we leave around 3:30 or 4am to go to the stores. We're usually finished by 11am or noon.

Hooray--I've been cast as Mother Abbess and get to sing "Climb Every Mountain." I took several of my friends to the audition and they were cast, too.

You both have cold weather. Hope there's no snow.

Yes DH arrived home safe and sound. He had a very profound experience and his eyes tear up when he talks about the poverty there. DH said the people have nothing yet they're happy. We are so fortunate and all we do is gripe.

Pam, I, too, have started my Christmas shopping. I do some in the stores, some online. Again, I'm having problems with my dad and some other friends who have everything.

Lori, So glad your nausea is gone. I guess 14 pounds isn't bad, right? I will go out on Black Friday, too. I hope there are good sales. I read one report that because stores are not doing well that there won't be good sales. Then I read another story that said because stores are not doing well that they'll have big sales. ??

I wonder how Melissa is doing?

Hi ladies! The surgery went well--it only takes about 15 minutes for the surgeon the rest of the time is prep. I was scheduled for 11 but didn't get in until almost noon. I go today at 3 for them to change my bandages--I can't wait because I have an ace bandage wrapped from my hand to my mid-forearm. I slept quite a bit the first day and this morning I feel pretty good--I didn't take any pain pills so that's a bonus.

Temps here are strange--today and tomorrow are supposed to be warm and then another cold front is coming with snow on Sunday.

Lori The 8 am referred to the time I could have coffee up until. Thank goodness I had some.

I'll try and post more later...

Lisa Congratulations on getting the part!

Melissa Hooray--I'm so glad the surgery went well. When do you get the stitches out? How much PT will you have?

Melissa I'm so glad the surgery went well. How long will you be out of work? Our temps are similar to yours except for the snow you have scheduled for Sunday but who knows things change quickly in New England.

Lori I didn't make it to Macy's for the Veterans Day sales but I plan on using the coupons they sent me for $10 off a $30 purchase before they expire on the 30th. I think I will be shopping on Black Friday this year. DH and I are looking for a new desk top PC so I'll have to check out the deals. Glad the pregnancy nausea if over!

Lisa Congratulations on getting the part! I plan on doing a little on-line shopping this year too.

Well ladies I think it's going to be an early night for me, I can barely keep my eyes open. I went today for my annual check up and all was well. Last year it seemed like I had so many small annoying medical issues but this year things have been going better. Hope I didn't just jinx myself. Talk to you tomorrow.

Good evening ladies!

It felt so good to get the ace off; I still have gauze and another ace but not nearly as bulky as the previous one. The palm of my hand is black and blue and I have some bruising just below my wrist. The good news is that I don't need PT because I can make a fist, bend my fingers, and rotate my wrist. I get my stitches out next Thursday morning. I got a little sick (i.e. almost passed out) when they f irst took the bandages off...not sure if was from the stress of everything or just the thought of the stitches, lol. I'll be off work until the stitches come out. So I'll tentatively go back on 11/21 and work for a week or so then have my 2nd surgery on Dec. 2.

My dad is not doing well--he fell twice today at the home. He told my mom he wants to come home...I'm having such a hard time with this because he loves the holidays and I know in my heart that he won't be able to come home to be with us. Phew. I need to go see him but I also know it's going to be emotional.

I'll be back tomorrow...have a good evening!

Pam, I enjoy the Black Friday shopping. Some people say that I'm crazy, but I like the hustle and bustle and good deals. I usually have some of my shopping done, so that day is not so crazy. I like watching the people, too.

Melissa,Why does your father keep falling? That's not good because he could really hurt himself. So sad and all of us with our parents will face that some day. How great about your hand and no PT!
