Howdy. I'm trying to find a plan for myself. I'm currently 280lbs. I have seen alot of WW folks and most of them that I know only had small amounts to loose (30, 40lbs). Has anyone with 100lbs or more to loose had success with WW? How do you feel on it? and do you feel satisfied? I feel a may be embarrassed to have weigh-in in front of people that are 150lbs and less.
Grant it, I only started a couple of weeks ago...and I've only lost a few pounds...but it does seem that alot of people (at least at the meetings I go to) have a little bit to lose...not ALOT.
I'm really enjoying it becaue I honestly don't feel deprived. We shall see how things go in the long run though.
i am a fellow ww with more than 100lbs to lose. most of the people that are doing it with me have less than 50lbs to lose, but there are a couple who have closer to 80 or 90. i definitely have the most weight to lose though! yea, i wish i was one of those girls who only has 50lbs to lose, but one day i will be one of those girls who only has 50lbs to lose! ww has been working great for me, i have seen the weight steadily dropping in my first month. i know it will slow down, but i also know it will continue coming off if i stay on plan.
Templebody - just so you know, you don't have to weigh in front of a group. Only the person doing the weighing knows your weight. You will never have to say your weight out loud, either. If you'd rather, you can do WW at home, instead. I lost 85 pounds with WW in 2004, but did not do well in maintenance. It was my own fault, not the program's. Yes, you'll get enough to eat so you won't feel too hungry. Your beginning points would be somewhere around 33 points, with an extra 35 Flex points each week. If you divide them up daily, that would be around 38 points a day. The free veggies can be made into a soup that you can eat all you want.
You can do this, and we will help. Just keep coming here for support.
Hey there! I know exactly what you mean. And believe me, no one is wondering about others around them when it comes to weigh-in time! I'm so focused on getting on that scale I'm blind to everything
I've already lost 75 lbs with WW (began last April) and I'm planning on losing another 105 with the program.
Talk to the leader if you're uncomfortable about it. I'm sure they will be willing to help in any way they can.
The first time I did WW I was 17 and 150 lbs. At the time I thought I was soo fat lol but I was one of the thinnest people there. Flash forward to now. I am 215 (down from 240) and am in the middle (maybe one of the heavier ones). Anyway the atmosphere is totally relaxed. It is not like getting weighed in at the Dr. or anything lol. There is no need to be embarrassed. Just remember everyone starts somewhere and no one will judge you. Everyone is there for the same reason and that is to lose weight and get healthy!!! Good luck!!!! You can do it!
Yes I did WW for 3 years I lost 135lbs w/more to go, but do to finacial issues I had to stop and I gained back 45, I loved it wish I could go back, but now I am doing it on my own I hope to get those 45lbs gone and then the 50 I have left, good luck on whatever you decide but I would say give it a try, and no I didn't feel deprived,
At my weigh in, they don't even say anything out loud about loss or gain only if you ask. They'll say good job if you've had a good week and sometimes ask if you need some help on anything if you've had an out of ordinary gain week
The first time I went to WW I had to lose 67 to get to goal, of course I thought I was "cured" and quit going to meetings and off and on would restart, lose, quit, gain, restart...totally my fault, I probably have had to lose close to 300 lbs. to get where I am today! Unfortunately the same 50 or so over and over. I could kick myself, if I didn't quit going to meetings, I wouldn't have had to do that, but I guess I wouldn't be who I am today if I didn't go through what I have.
I remember two people in particular who lost 100+ lbs. at our meetings, one male and one female, they were inspiring. Believe it or not I got courage from them to keep working towards my goal. It takes alot of courage to take the steps to make a healthy difference in your life. I'm proud of you for doing it.
Some meetings they announce what the group as a whole lost, depending on the size of the meeting it can be mind-boggling. Not the individual's losses, that's up to you, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the support and encouragement you can get at WW.
