Good morning Lifers! This thread is open to anyone who wants to join us.

Another hazy, hot week ahead of us here, I'm just hoping it cools down for the weekend because it is THE weekend of the WEDDING!!! I can't believe it! It seemed like just yesterday I was talking about the engagement!

DS and his fiance are moving things into their apartment so slowly things are being moved. DS hasn't taken too much of his stuff yet so I'm figuring this week will be his week to move his stuff. DS #2 turned 16 on Saturday so we went out to dinner and then we stopped at the jazz & blues festival. It was fun and the weather was perfect.

I had been doing good with my journal up until Saturday and then didn't write anything down so this morning I'm trying to recall what all I ingested! My weight has been pretty much staying in the area that I don't want. I'm hoping that I can get rid of 5# as a start. I'd love to lose about 8 but I really need to refocus and get things figured out.

Lisa: Is the play still going on or are you all done? I talked with my GF the other day and she said they were pretty wet. We haven't had a whole lot of rain although this morning it was raining a little which will raise the humidity up even more!

Susan: How's the running going? I admire you for doing it! I'm keeping up with my walking and even moved indoors last week when it was too hot to be outside. I need to bump up the activity.

Pam: How're things with you? DS #2 is getting ready for football camp next week so he'll be pretty busy and I'll be taking him to the field at 6:45 am!! I may just plan on going to the wellness center afterwards and walking rather than going all the way home. We'll see though.

Lala: Are you still out there lurking??? We miss you here! We love to hear about your travels and your favorite bassett!

Melissa, thanks for getting the thread up and running. It's been pretty quiet lately. Gosh the wedding is almost here! It's so hard to believe. I know that it will be great. I'm the wedding coordinator at my church and we had a beautiful wedding on Saturday. There were 250 people in the church. It was nice to see.

DH is out there running again. He's doing it smart, just running a little at a time. He's talking about buying a new bicycle to do some cross training. That has to be good.

Yes, the play is over. It ended on July 29th. We had a good run. I went to an audition yesterday and they want me to come back. It might work out.

It is very hot and sticky here, but then again it's August and it's Florida. We've had so much rain, in July we almost broke the all-time record! We missed by about a 1/2 inch.

I'm head to St. Petersburg this weekend to see my parents. My mother has lined up a tea. Knowing how much you like tea rooms, I'll give you a report, Melissa.

Tonight I'm singing the National Anthem at our local minor league stadium. That should be fun. It was a last-minute request, so I'm thinking somebody backed out. Unfortunately, DH is not feeling very well (sinus headache), so I'll be there by myself.

Good morning ladies. Great to catch up on your news.

Can't believe the wedding is this weekend Melissa. Will you have a house full of guests? I hope everything goes well and that the weather cooperates.

I am on vacation. Spent last week visiting my Mom and family in New Brunswick. It was a strange week weather-wise, with hot humid days, violent thunder and lightning storms, even a small tornado according to news reports. This just never happens in this part of the country, but then again, everything seems to be changing as far as weather is concerned.

My Mom seems fine physically but I am a little worried about her. She seems depressed. I have spoken to two of my sisters about it and we will be keeping a close eye on her. If she doesn't perk up in September and get back to a regular routine, we'll try to suggest a visit to her doctor.

I got out for a run yesterday morning. It was a race actually, and even though I hadn't been out in a few weeks, I did ok. My legs felt like lead, but I managed to finish in a respectable time. Training is starting for the half-marathon in October. Sure hope it cools down soon. I don't know how you handle Florida in August Lisa.

I haven't had any word on the new job but I am really hoping for something next week when the boss gets back from vacation. We are waiting for my security clearance to come through, otherwise all systems are go.

My weight has been steady but not where I want it. I am four pounds over my WW goal and about 10 over my personal. But attending my high school reunion over the weekend helped put it into perspective. I actually felt very fit amongst my peers, so while I would still like to be in the lower 140s, I've decided I look pretty darn good regardless!

Hi to Pam and lala.

Susan, that is strange weather for your area. I enjoyed reading about your high school reunion. Funny how those can make you feel good about yourself. Congrats for being only 4 pounds away from goal. I know that it has been a struggle. I am so happy that you can still run as you do. That's a good thing. Hope the job comes through.

Hi ladies,

Just trying to catch up at work after being out for a week unexpectedly. DH had acute gout in both of his knees which created a pretty painful, stressful situation. He was unable to walk at all for 3 days! On Friday he was taken by ambulance to the hospital and has slowly been getting better since then. Today was the first day I felt comfortable enough to leave him at home alone. Yikes what a week! Tomorrow I will be out again, this time taking my mom to the doctor...strange how everything seems to happen at once.

Melissa I hope your son has beautiful weather this weekend and everything goes as planned. How exciting for all of you. You must be so proud and happy. Congratulations to you and DH on your upcoming anniversary. What part of Maine will you be visiting? So many beautiful areas, my sister and I spent many summers vacationing in Kennebunk and Wells. Also vacationed much further north in Bar Harbour. Just love going there! Another HHH week here also with temps once again up in the 90's...way too hot for me!

Lisa Good luck tonight singing at the baseball stadium. I have a good friend who does that also. She's very excited because she was invited to sing at Fenway Park later this month.

Susan I'm hoping you hear back quickly on the job situation. You are doing terrific with your weight and I'm sure you look fantastic. It seems like we are much harder on ourselves when it comes to weight. I'm sure the reunion was an eye opener for you. My mom is having medical issues also. I'm hoping things turn out better than we think they will. We'll see tomorrow.

Well ladies as much as I would like to continue chatting I really must get some work done. I'll try and stop by tomorrow!

Pam, how awful for your husband! My dad had gout and it was very painful. I've never heard of it in both knees. Is he on medication?

The singing went very well. The players high-fived me.

Lisa according to his doctor he will be on medication for the rest of his life to control this. One of the meds is allopurinol and I can't recall the name of the other one. I've never seen anyone in so much pain

Oops sorry Lisa I thought you were singing tonight, I'm so glad it went well

Good morning ladies! It's HHH here again this morning! Yesterday we had quite a bit of rain and last evening some t'storms, which we needed. The grass has been brown for quite some time.

Susan: I know what you mean about having your weight put into perspective--I said the same thing to myself when I tried my gown on for wedding...I look pretty darn good for being 45! My weight has been hanging in the 145 area and it's driving me crazy. I feel much better in the high 130's, low 140's. I will get back there! I hope you hear something soon about the new position. I won't have a house full of guests--my cousin is staying at a hotel not too far from us and my sister was unable to come in. She did something to her back and she has an appointment on Friday at the military base.

Pam: I know what you mean about life throwing you a curve ball. I remember when DH had the infection in his leg and couldn't walk--it was terrible! I hope your husband starts to feel better. DH and I are planning on going to Kennebunk area and Portland. I'm looking for a B&B for part of our stay and so far haven't had too much luck. It's so hard to tell from pictures.

Lisa: I'm glad the singing went well--I could never do that! Besides my voice would scare the crowds I can't wait to hear about the tea room you visit--my GF is planning a trip home in October and we're already making plans to visit My Grandmother's Teapot!

The weather is supposed to be around 80 for Saturday with a chance of rain--I'm hoping that it doesn't but you can't control the weather and lately ours has been more hot & humid than anything. Things are coming together and yes, I'm proud of my son. It's a little scary at the same time to think he'll be out on his own. DS #2 is going to miss him. I'm taking Friday off to do some errands for the wedding. Not too much else going on here thankfully. I'm heading to my meeting today and don't know what to expect. TOM arrived a couple of days early (which I'm happy about) so that can impact the scale.

On another note I have to go back into the doctor at the end of the month--it seems they've found a small fibroid tumor and that might be causing some of my problems. We'll see what transpires. Now if I could just get my weight to drop a little I'd be really happy.

It's a beautiful morning here. Bright sunshine and no humidity.

Great news! I got The Call on Wednesday and start my new job on Monday! Everything was set to go, so when the security clearance came through, things progressed quickly. It feels strange to have left to go on vacation from one place and to be returning to work after vacation to another. I will adjust; it feels so good to know that I can settle in and get to work with confidence that I'll stay put.

Melissa: I'm sure you will look smashing at the wedding, and I don't mean "for 45". Knock 'em dead!

Pam: Hope the medication is helping your DH to feel better. Gout sounds really painful!

Lisa: High Five from the players...hmmm...sounds like you were a hit!

Have a great weekend everyone. Wish me luck on Monday!

Susan

Melissa, if you can show us a pic of the Mother of the Groom, that would be great. I wouldn't worry about the fibroid--many women have them.

Susan, it's good to hear from you. Congrats on the new job! I hope you like it there. Is it interesting work?

Speaking of age (you brought it up, Melissa)--I think we all look great. I'll tell you sometimes I meet women who have truly let themselves go and I'm amazed when they tell me how old they are--scary. I remember several years back, DH and I went to his high school reunion. We were the best looking ones there. Most of the others were 200 pounds or more! They looked old. Here's the kicker. DH had fallen while running and had a cast. I had had a bike accident and had stitches on my forehead and some road rash and we still looked good!!!

Hi ladies,

Susan I'm so happy you heard back from your employer and you'll be starting your new job on Monday, how exciting! Best wishes being sent to you!

Melissa Best wishes also being sent to your son and future daughter in law, I'm sure their day will go beautifully! Please try and post some pictures if you can.

Lisa I think staying active plays a big part in looking youthful. A lot of people fall into a sedentary lifestyle as they get older.

Well ladies it's a rainy cool day here but it's nice to get a break from the extreme heat we've been having. It's very quiet at the house...Lauren is vacationing in California with her grandmother. I really miss her but I know she's having a great time, she went to Laguna Beach yesterday and was very excited about that! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
