Hah!

I get to start this week's thread, what a change.

I hope everyone had a great weekend - relaxing and energetic at the same time!

I'm here in Myrtle Beach, SC where I should be working on the last part of my talk, but instead, I'm sitting in bed looking at the ocean and wishing I was at the beach.

Good thing my part of this whole thing is done tomorrow afternoon.

Nothing much doing here, work, going to skip eating out tonight for getting my keester to the gym and trying hard to keep within the realm of decent eating considering I'm in a deep fried zone.

Hi to everyone!

What are you all doing to keep yourself going this week?

lala, that is unusual for you to start the thread. Of course, now you're in our time zone. Myrtle Beach is supposed to be a very nice place. I'm trying to convince DH to run a marathon there. I hope you have a good conference. Good for you for working out rather than eating!!

I don't know what will motivate me this week, except that I want to be where I was a couple weeks ago...I'm determined.

I finished my first 10K. Actually, I walked and ran (ran more than I thought I would). I walked with a man who is about 10 years older than I who needs a knee replacement! He was great. We talked and before I knew it, the finish line was there. It was rainy and cold which would have been miserable if I had been alone.

The rest of the weekend consisted of rehearsals for my upcoming performances. DH and I went to party on Saturday night. Most of the people there were...well, let's just say they could have been my children. It was a nice party though. I ate too much. Really stupid!!

It's chilly here this morning--48 degrees.

Hello to everyone else.

Hi everyone. I spent the weekend with younger people too - aged 13 months to seven years. Saturday morning was my volunteer visit and from Saturday noon til last nite I babysat my friend's three. Totally exhausted by the end of the day, but we had fun!

My eating has been really bad. I have not had the courage to get on my home scales and missed my weigh-in because of the weekend schedule. I will go next week come **** or high water. In the meantime, determined to get back on track.

I think most of the out-of-control eating is due to stress that I'm feeling because of the work situation. Ending things here...not knowing what the future will bring. Am trying to get things into perspective and not add to the stress with more anxiety over my weight. Such a complex circle...

Susan, I don't know how you did that!! All those children. I would be exhausted. Yes, a job change is quite stressful. Keep some healthy snacks around for when you want to eat something (I should listen to my own advice).

Healthy snacks are good, but still three 100 calorie bags of goldfish do not a healthy choice make.

Take it from my Friday night. Bored, tired and alone. I should have gone to the gym instead of going to the pantry.

Lisa - yeah on you! I am getting in at 11 am on Friday and first thing I'm doing after I pick up Ernest is going to walk/run a 10 K.

Susan - It is so nice when you can give them back.

Ack, must leave hotel room and mingle.

Another day here in Paradise. Hopefully today I'll get out and see it.

Did pretty well yesterday on the eating front. There was a reception so I packed in the veggies and had some pulled pork. I am glad I brought some almonds and fruit leather with me.

Today the food is provided and I'll try and make healthy choices.

I hope everyone has a great day and gets out and moves (I need to do this!).

Hi to everyone!

lala, good for you for eating right at a conference. They are always hard for me because of all the snacks that are provided. The last few I have been to did have some healthy things which was a welcome change. They had yogurt, fruit, and small bagels. In days past they had donuts--yuck!

Susan, I was quite proud of myself for finishing the 10K (my goal). I didn't come in last (close).

I was OP yesterday and will do that today, too. I have a show today (taking vacation from work) about Women in History.

Hello to Melissa, Karynlee, and Pam.

Lisa -

How can you stand all this relentless sunshine?

Hah!

I gave up chocolate for lent, many things here are chocolate (snacks). It is easy.

I should have brought some more fruit leather.

more later,

Good morning! It's a bone-chilling 6 degrees here this morning! The windchills make it 7 below! The sun is shining though. We're supposed to get a little more snow and hopefully the weather will get better but I don't think that's going to happen.

Lala: Thanks for getting the thread up and running!

I had a pretty busy weekend--worked at WW Friday night, Saturday morning and Sunday morning--it wasn't that bad and it's just for one weekend so I can handle that. I'm working tonight at the Center. It makes for some nice "mad" money as I call it.

We started our "Bands on the Run" program this week and I did the series of strength training--I could feel my muscles protesting as I finished the series but it was a good feeling. Today I'm walking at lunch. I got my results back from the blood work I had done at the beginning of the month and my cholesterol dropped from 208 to 189! I don't know if that's due in part to getting my thyroid under control but I'm not complaining at all.

My eating has not been great but the worst should be over now since TOM arrived. Not too much else going on here--will be glad when the cold weather moves on--the normal temps for this time of year is 42!

I'll catch up more later...

lala, I've tried to give up chocolate for Lent--too hard!! Ha!

Melissa, that is so cold! What is going on up there? I thought you were on your way to spring.

Weighed in this morning and stayed the same. It's my own fault. Yes, I walked/ran a 10K, but then my little brain said that I could eat more!!! I went to a party on Saturday night and ate food that I'm not particularly fond of. Duh!!

Went to a town meeting and was that entertaining! The town commissioners were yelling at each other. We have interesting politics here. Amazing!

Hi everyone,

I went for a walk on the beach this morning. It was so much fun, I'm thinking of doing later. I only went for 30 minutes.

I had an okay eating day yesterday. I had a run in with some potato chips at lunch and cornbread at dinner. Yum.

Today we have a lunch and a banquet or party thing. I hope that I can handle it.

Melissa - Brr. Band resistance training is great. I am jealous of your cholesterol drop. I am going to check in a few more months. I am hoping to be down to 250. Its that high!

Lisa - once you get into the groove, giving up chocolate is easy. Going to very good chocolatiers in Paris and buying boxes was fun because I bought two small boxes that I will enjoy in April and May.

Well, I should get my act in gear. I will miss the first talks because I have some work emails to send off.

Are we all excited that daylight savings time starts this weekend? I am!

Hi to everyone else!

Lisa: I'd much rather stay the same rather than post a gain. In any case, today starts a new week and you can work at a better week. Just take it in baby steps.

Lala: I'm jealous--a walk on the beach sounds wonderful and totally relaxing! It's way too cold here to walk outside. It's only 13 here this morning and we're getting some more snow! I'm SO ready for spring! I did some daffodils poking up. I can tell I used muscles that I don't normally use this morning--DS #1 told me I'd feel it more the 2nd day and he was right. I did some stretching yesterday and am planning on doing the resistance band again this evening.

Susan: How's everything going? Have things settled down a bit in the eating area? I know when I'm stressed/bored I tend to graze and just eat whatever. You'll be fine...just take it one day at a time.

There's not much else going on here--made a nice batch of spaghetti sauce for tonight and put it in the crockpot so it can cook some more today. I'm looking forward to dinner. I'll post after my meeting today--not sure what to expect since TOM is in full swing.

Hi Ladies,

It's uncomfortably cold in my neck of the woods. Temps should get as high as ...oh let's see...maybe 9 degrees. Looks like the same tomorrow but the weather guy is promising a milder weekend. We'll see.

Bought the car on Sunday and picked it up on Monday. So far I love it!

Work is still very busy but that's OK because the workday is just flying by!
Went to look at prom gowns with Lauren this weekend. I think she decided on one in Jessica McClintock that is black and white and looks fabulous on her. I'm not thrilled with her "date" for the event. They are not in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, just friends, in fact she has a steady boyfriend who graduated from high school 2 years ago and does not want to go to the prom but doesn't have any issues with her going with her friend. Ah well.

Melissa Yikes you can feel my pain with this cold weather! Glad your cholesterol level dropped significantly. I think that last time I had mine checked in was in the low 190's.

lala I want to be where you are. The beach sounds so wonderful right now. Hmmm I had a run in with chips last night also. I'm chalking it up to PMS.
How's Ernesto doing?

Lisa yes town politics are very amusing. My job requires me to attend several town meetings and they can be unbelievable. I'm with you...I could never give up chocolate!

Susan I'm sorry your dealing with work related stress, that's no fun. I hope things get resolved soon. Sounds like you had a nice weekend with the kiddies!

Well ladies I signed up to donate blood this afternoon at our company blood drive and the time is quickly approaching. I really dislike doing this, but it's necessary since the supplies are so low. Hope you all have a nice day..talk to you tomorrow!
