  • *ouch*

I have "bruised ribs" I am not in any position to lift... *ouch* It hurts to get dressed I've been told to rest! Pah! Rest!!!! I have to teach small children tonight and then go and beat the patooey outta the guy who did this to me! Ok, maybe I'll hold off on the beating till I get better

    So how are you?

    To Mrs Nelie
  • I'm well! A little stiff from the complete lbwo & ubwo I did yesterday. But that's ok, I sound much better off than you at any rate! One day you'll have to explain to me why you let people make contact with you instead of saying no thanks and sticking to a bag or something!! lol

Will knock out an hour of cardio later on today, probably tonite after dinner.

Can't BELIEVE this thread title mentions well into the month of December! gulp
  • Hmmmm, the doc today asked what I usually do when I get hit... I don't usually get hit that hard!!! We are supposed to make LIGHT contact, but the guy I was fighting with obviously didn't have the word "light" in his vocabulary since he was told at least 5 times to stop hitting so heavy.
  • Catching up at the office, not too bad since most people were not in full voicemailing/emailing mode while I was out.

We have a fine Thanksgiving, I did nothing, though did some yoga on Thursday to limber up for the workout at the table.

Was a nice traditional holiday for us, since for some reason, in my family, Thanksgiving is also a time to change sink faucets. DH installed a nice new one in the kitchen while I was at church. My father was famous for plumbing during the holidays, glad DH is also handy that way.

Met a potential walker from my neck of the woods, she is in the area and we are going to try to walk our way through the holidays to stay on track.

Left leg still sore, so I am going easy, no LBWO today, though maybe some bicep and tricep work later.
  • Hi all

Mrs Frus this is Mrs Nelie reporting in... Actually I was just doing some research on how to change my name and even had some thoughts about keeping it as is but I do think I will change it afterall.

Saturday, DH and I went hiking. I picked the hike, he concurred and it kicked our butts. We had been walking but we hadn't been hiking in quite a few weeks. The hike was especially challenging with steep climbs and decents. My legs and butt were so sore yesterday that I could barely walk. This morning I had physical therapy and I still felt sore but a lot better.

I'm still trying to figure a way to get back on track because I feel a bit out of whack. My routine was messed up and now I need to redefine it again.
  • Thanks for starting us off, Fru! Bruised ribs are no laughing matter. As you've probably discovered, it really hurts to laugh...or do just about anything else. I was viciously attacked by a treadmill "arm" a few years ago a broke 2 ribs (don't ask) and doing anything hurt for about 6 weeks. Hope you heal faster than that!

Liza, that changing plumbing fixtures is Thansgiving tradition! Sounds like our family.

Fran, I'm with you- I went into shock when I flipped the page in my weekly planner. I bought my 2007 planner last week and really had fits.

Just finished doing legs. I'm exhausted and probably won't do cardio today. I got up really early and drove DD to the airport this morning before I went to work- boy was it busy there at 6 am!
Food is back on trak. I didn't get terribly off track, but the tiniest variation in my routine can add 5 pounds

    Mel
  • *cough* My ribs made me eat chocolate... But I'm feeling ok about it today, I was reasonable about calories and it DID make me feel better! I have plenty of nice stuff to eat today like, er, turkey! I think I may have made a mistake buying turkey as the lean protein choice of the week so close to Christmas, but I do like it!

No lifting so far, taught kickboxing last night and I couldn't stretch or do much at all! I can still do kicks though and I think it's not too hurty to do some punches, so I will go tonight and miss out the press-ups and sit-ups and stretchy bits!

Mrs Nelie - I am having the hardest time changing my name! I tried to go to the bank yesterday and get it done (I can't do it over the phone or online), and the guy there "didn't know how to do it" and everyone else was "in a meeting" BAH! So I shouted loudly and told him how pathetic he was!
  • totally different schedule this morning, no workout, DH was up and getting going by 6 am but it is also going to be really long day, probably should have slept in.

MEL - totally enjoying my new dripless kitchen faucet. LOL

2FRU - I was reading that you bought turkey, then remembered you are in England, no Thanksgiving turkey. I won't be getting any turkey for a while. Like 12 months. For Christmas we will have either a goose, my choice or roast beef, the rest of the choices.

I changed my name when I married, moved to a more simple one, easier to spell. yeah.

Left side still sore, but will work through it with some squats and lunges, low weights though to see if I can keep the knee in proper alignment.

    Then yoga tomorrow am.

Off to plan my meals for the rest of the week, somehow got through Sunday without doing that.
  • Chest and light cardio today. My new bench pressing games (now that I've destroyed my forearm flexors trying to go for power lifting records ) include endurance pressing: how many reps can I get at 60% of my body weight? I was trying for 28 today (26 last week) but didn't get it. Phooey.

My other new fun is playing with kettlebells. If you have access to kettlebells at your gym and aren't sure what to do with them, here's a great site for exercise ideas. I've been working on the "Turkish Get Ups" and "Windmills". Sounds like a Halloween costume

    Food- eh. Still eating turkey.

    Mel
  • Well, this week will be devoted to rectifying the damage I did to myself over thanksgiving....can't believe i could go so far off eating plan....but since I wasn't in my own house, and was trying to take care of grandbaby, help pack for their move, cook for thankgiving, and adjust to time changes, I fell apart. It has taken me three days to get my sleep schedule back in line, and my eating back on target.

Fru, if the guy had to be told 5 times to cut out the rough stuff, by time 2 he should have been kicked in a place I will not mention and removed from the sport.

Mel, I tried kettleballs, or rather, improvised the exercises using weight balls with handles...great fun...had downloaded the book with exercises from the website whose name I forget. I can see why you would really like them.

My goodness, December is unbelievably close! Can't believe the year zipped by like that.
  • Hello my dears! I have a lovely sore butt today. Well, it's sore and getting lovelier all the time
Tomorrow is upper body. I'm enjoying back and shoulders more and more but I really think that tomorrow I'd better concentrate on chest.
  • Susan (am) - I completely agree with you, the guy has NO CONTROL. Bah! I will get him next time - my foot might accidentally slip...

SusanB and what a lovely butt it will be

I'm really missing the weights - I feel all flabby. Ick flabby flabby ick! I did manage to do a bit of cardio last night - I'm training for Brown Belt now so I did some jumpy spinny kicks and helped teach the class since I am disabled

One of the regular guys at training last night noticed I was "excused" press-ups and sit-ups and asked what was up, so I told him to bully the guy who hit me! he managed to sweep the guy so he fell over!
  • Hi LWL,

I have a large case of life getting in the way. Glad to hear you are all up and doing. Nelie, congratulations on the Mrs! I'll pop back to the thread of previous week to catch up in a minute!

I am MIA, due to the full catastrophe of life hitting at all sides again. I managed to do a power class monday, but i am skipping today to make time for mortgage discussions, settlement issues, child care, and getting my own PC back to work, since DS has managed to get a virus in it. Sigh. this could be a real disaster.

    Have a great day all,
    Rabbit
  • take time to breathe too rabbit
  • Remind me: what's our feeling about the Power Plate/Vibrogym?
Quote: Sigh. this could be a real disaster.
Hope not. I join Shakespeare in suggesting you 'be bloody, bold and resolute'! That should sort things out.

Gymn just now for full body and a bit of treadmill. Got cornered by someone on the next treadmill (not possible geometrically, I suppose, but you know what I mean ). She is a convert to the Power Plate (aka Vibrogym) for knee problems. (Her qualifications to ramble about this subject: 'I am a fully qualified yoga teacher and I've taught for years' plus knee ops in her past. )

I know this came up before. I seem to remember a distinct lack of enthusiasm from our True Iron Sector. Any further thoughts? Thanks. I plan to go to my second Lower Limb class on Friday. (The name kills me!)
