Default

I do carb cycling throughout the day currently, bracketing my workouts with my higher carb meals. It works very well for me.

In the past, I tried two other methods of carb cycling. The first, I just added more carbs some days to achieve calorie cycling. This also worked, but took a lot of planning and record keeping.

A few years ago, I did 12 weeks of a ketogenic diet, which involved VERY low carbs 6 days of the week, then 1 day of carb loading. This was coupled with a strict workout schedule which mandated a "depletion workout" on the day before or the morning of the carb load. It was brutal! I felt horrible a lot of the time, the carb load days were spent in a fog, and it was hard to consume enough calories of healthy food without complex carbs. I was eating a lot more fat than I felt comfortable with for health. I lost no more weight than the way I currently eat, which is about 45P/30C/25F cycled throughout the day.
