Default Half Squats

I was wondering if any of you have an opinion regarding the benefits of half squats. Are they a waste of time? Having tried them today I felt they only worked the quads but left all they other muscles out. I wasn't impressed but just wondered if I was missing something.

Alberta, why are you doing half squats? Unless you have severe knee problems, I can't see any benefit to doing them. Going at least parallel to the floor uses your quads (the full range of the muscle), glutes, hamstrings, core muscles and calves. The smaller the range of motion, the less muscles are incorporated.

Thanks both of you. They were recommended by a male bodybuilder. I didn't think they felt great but thought it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion. Thanks.
