Default Can you do resistance training everyday?

Hi everyone! I can't use any weight for leg work due to bad knees. Can a person just do lunges, squats etc... using own body weight every day or do you still need to rest a day in between? I though that you only need to rest if you are using weights??

Gumby, you can do lunges and squats without weight that should still make you sore. Are there any other leg exercises you can do with/without weights?

Each muscle group that you work out should at least have 1 day of rest, preferably more. So you can do your leg workout one day, then do a different part of your body the next, then you could do legs again if you wanted.

gumby, iv been going to the gym for a month now, about 2 times a week. I do lunges mainly without weights, and squats withuot weight, and my legs are still feeling sore 2 days afterwards, so yea im sure you'll be fine doing them without weights and still see some benefits.

if you have knee problems lunges might not be the best thing. If I were you I would go to the doctor and see what they say. You don't want to make your knee problems worse. The problem with lunges is that there is so much preasure put on the knee. I would recommend a trainer and see what modifications they suggest. My trainer and I sometimes lay off squats and lunges on the days my knee is bothering me....we do something that offers more support for the knee
