L2L, I had so much fun last night cheering for Brett McClure, it just made rooting for the USA that much more exciting. DH and I were talking about the pure strength required to do a handstand on the parallel bar when I realized it was Brett who was performing. Poor DH has the bruises on his leg to prove my level of excitement as I screamed that’s him!!! that’s him!!! Did you hear me by any chance? You should have, it’s not all that far to WA from AZ. Anyway we had a blast cheering him on the rest of the evening.
Mel, thx for the input on the back muscles, that makes me feel better. Do have a safe trip to Florida, my step-daughter said Charlie made a real mess in Orlando.
Tiki, have a wonderful time this weekend, getting to dress up and go out is great fun.
I’ve had a really good week so far, did LBWO yesterday and walked 3.5 miles during lunch today. It was a bit hot but I was feeling closed in so I grabbed a bottle of water and struck out. If someone were following me they would have thought I was staggering all over the place but actually I was following the shade. When I go out at lunch this time of year I probably add 1000 extra steps just walking from the shade of this building to the shade of that tree and across the street to catch those 3 trees in a row, and then across again because now there’s a tree on this side, etc. etc., etc. I really get to challenging myself to see how much I can stay out of the sun.
I am going to have to start watching the dang Olympics. I remember when Brett was just a little kid. His family moved so he could get coached by my brother. I haven't seen him since he was about 15 or 16 but I hear he turned out pretty cute. Amazing how time flies....
I think I am going to look it up online to see when Gymnastics is up again....
L2L
I guess his name is spelled McClure with 2 c's. He is from Mill Creek, Wa which is where I work and where I am right now
Kinda cool to know one of em...
L2L
It was great fun. Last night was individual competitions and he didn't win a metal but he was the under dog really nipping at everyone's heals so he was getting a lot of news coverage. Apparently they weren’t expecting such a strong performance from him, my husband got really upset because he felt they scored him way to low on the pommel horse, he did a great job on it too. The USA Team won silver on Monday so he is at least coming back with his team metal.
Hi all ! Just a really quick note to say that DS and I are finally heading to college in Orlando tomorrow morning. We got the word that the power and phones are finally back on in his new apartment complex. They had a lot of trees down (some on cars) and the tiles ripped off the roofs and through windows (105 MPH wind gusts) but life is getting back to normal down there. It doesn't look like I'll have Interent access there (you can imagine how long it's going to take to get utilities hooked up!) -- no Fitday!
So today is the gargantuan task of cramming everything into two cars and being ready to pull out at the crack of dawn in the morning. DS insists that he's going to need at least four guitars, one amp, and assorted sound equipment (this is sound engineering school). I'm more concerned about sheets and socks and underwear. We'll see who wins the limited space battle!
It looks like there's a gym about a half mile from DS's apartment so I may get a chance to workout. But I'm going to hit it fast and hard in the gym today since I'll certainly miss several days due to driving. This will be my last 6 AM cardio at the gym here since DH wants to start walking in the mornings when I get back, which will be fun for a change.
So be good, y'all, and I'll be back in ten days or so.
I’m not watching the Olympics at all – so I have nothing to say about that.
As usual I’m impressed to hear how hard you guys are working out!
I’m done with my third week of lifting weights, and have one week left of the introductory period – after that I’ll start adding weights on the exercises. I did upper body today, a bit sore – but not too bad.
Was it somebody in this forum that came up with the idea of mixing cottage cheese and hot salsa as dip for broccoli, carrots and cauliflower? That was the best idea I've heard this month! And also very Yummy!!!
Lieke: best of luck with the mortgage tomorrow!

Heh. I did too. When L2L wrote:”... when my BF is under ground and I have this conspicously dark tan.”, I thought: “What? Wait... what?”
Tiki: your date this weekend sounds very nice - best of luck and hope you have fun!!!
Did y'all know that BF's tend to increase ones BF? All those dates out to dinner, sharing ice cream cones, etc. hahahhaaha at least my pastor says that.
Meg, good luck getting DS settled in school. I do NOT envy you that long road trip, but I envision you staying on plan, getting workouts in, staring down (and cursing out) junk food at the road stops along the way.
I was asleep by 10PM last night and missed ALL the Olympic coverage last night. I was TICKED OFF this morning when I realized I missed the last day of women's gymnastics. Shoot!
Clean eats again, although today has been a struggle. I just have a inkling for something spicy/salty so I nibbled on a few pretzels. Not exactly what I wanted but boy o boy, it could have been worse.
L2L, I never noticed that you live in Marysville. I live in Seattle. If it's open to the public, I would love to check out the show and be your 3FC cheering section!
I, too, was rooting for Brett McClure since he's a "local," but the Hamm comeback was pretty spectacular. Brett McClure sure has a wonderful attitude, though, and seemed really happy to have completed his ring routine looking so good even if he did get a lower score than everyone thought he should get. He just seems like such a nice guy, and I really like nice guys.
Tiki,
I'm afraid that what your pastor says as true - my getting a BF definitely resulted in my bf going up - about 2% unfortunately. Kind of sad, since mine was at an all-time low just before meeting him, and now I'm struggling to get it back under control!
So, enjoy your date this weekend, but make sure you ask yourself if he's "bf-worthy"!"
Cindy
Tiki -- Yes , have a great date! I wish you all the luck, you seem to be such a nice girl and deserve a nice fella. I do hope he's in good shape to keep up with you and your kids and cheerleaders...
Today was a busy day and I didn't get a chance to go to the gym... My bad! Tomorrow I'll go I feel like I really need it although food has been pretty good I need to move. I spent all morning sitting at a desk, then all afternoon in a car driving the kids to a cheese factory we go to for fresh cheese... I did have some but bought a small 4oz pkg for myself just so that it would be portion controlled with a diet Pepsi. That was my supper! I'm hungry now it's almost 9pm so I'll go have some fresh tomatoes that hubby brought home from his sister's garden. I haven't had any veggies today yet my body is craving that. Funny how after a while I seem to need those veggies...
Shella -- Is that your D? She's such a cutie! I'd love to live close enough too to go see L2L compete, that would be sooo cool! I went to a BB comp a few years ago, oh maybe 17 yrs or so, I really enjoyed it... I had gone with a bunch from the gym I was at at the time we had a great time...
Cindy -- I'm sure your BF% will come back down as soon as the "glow" of love comes down a bit too ... Hang in there...
Evangeline -- Sounds like you had a great workout at lunch time going from one side of the street to the other for shade... 3.5 miles is a good hike for lunch time...
Well I'm off now to go eat some fresh tomatoes and cukes!
Hi to the rest that I have missed, I always seem to miss someone ...
This rain is going to make me crazy - it just won't stop! And it's chilly too, which makes me just want to stay curled up on the couch with a book all day. So, maybe I will!
Just had protein pancakes w/blueberries in them - not sure I would recommend that -the berries kept popping out when I'd flip the pancakes. They were tasty, but more work than usual!
Guess I'll spend more time in that messy den to try to get it organized more - I still have visions of getting it decorated one of these days, and until it's in order, I can't even think about it. Ok, at least 2 hours in there today - I promise myself....
Hope everyone is having a great day - hello to everyone - I know I've been lurking a bit, but just been in that kind of mood. I always read your posts, and appreciate the motivation I get from them.
Ilene - fresh tomatoes - yum! But I always need to eat mine with some fresh mozzarella or other mild cheese. As long as I forgo the crusty bread, I guess I'm doing ok...
Cindy
I have been sooo busy biting nails (joke Ilene!) these past few days that I hardly had time for anything else. BF (which means boyfriend, although I might have to change my vocabulary), called the lady at the bank who said that although her boss hadn't seen the application yet, she said not to worry, it would be ok and he would get the mortgage, so now it's waiting for the final stretch. I had a wonderful time watching the Olympics, especially gymnastics! Both the ladies and the men were very good! Patterson was so sparkling, she deserved her medal. Hamm I saw too but I would have been more attentive had I known some of you knew some of the athletes...
My dad and sister went to the field hockey game Netherlqnds-India and had a wonderful time only to find the door of my granny's house had got stuck and they couldn't get in at mignight (gran was away). So they decided to go and find a hotel at one o'clock at night in the center of Athens... They only got into a horrible hotel (yes, THAT kind) 2 hours and 15 attempts later, as nobody would believe they were father and daughter and just wanted a good night's rest... Thankfully, they only had to sleep for a few hours before they could take a bus home, and afterwards they had a good laugh with me on the phone too.
Food is OK, went for a 1 hr bike ride today, only 2 more days before the gym opens, Hurrah!
