Default Weird hand rash

Every year about this time, I don't know why, I get this weird rash on my left palm. They're like tiny water filled bubbles. I put lotion on it for a few days and it went down. Then today I did some pull ups and the rash was back within a half hour and this time it is further up my hand where you think of calluses being...I used to get them from playing on the monkey bars as a kid.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I've got that right now, as a matter of fact, but since I recently went hiking in an area that had poison oak, I assumed that it was some kind of allergic rash. I did a little googling and found something called "dyshidrotic dermatitis". It's supposed to flare up in hot, humid weather, and it has small fluid-filled bubbles on the hands (and sometimes feet).

That sounds right!! It always happens around August...hot, humid weather. I bet the lifting just aggravates it. Cool...I like having a name for things.

Found some disgusting pictures and am now quite thankful mine is not that bad. I also found a picture that looks exactly like mine does.

Again, thanks for the name!

Of course! I am the queen of self-diagnosis...or self-diagnosis via google.

I've had this before as well, but didn't know what caused it. It was only for a short while and it was on my lower palm and wrist.

Good to know I'm not alone

I've had it too and always assumed it was a reaction to cleaning products as I hardly ever use gloves.

I was going to say it sounds like some kind of heat rash to me, but also just speaking from life experience and not any kind of medical background. I would think keeping it cleaned and frequently cooling the skin would help, as well as maybe an antibiotic cream, like triple antibiotic cream or bag balm applied, say, morning and night, to help keep the area sterile and treat the irritated skin...? Maybe chalking during workouts, too, help keep the palm dry? Good luck with it. I hope you find a way to lessen the symptoms..that sounds like it wouldn't be much fun for lifting or pull-ups!

I've discovered when I have flare up if I just put lotion on it the it subsides within 24 hours...only to come back again the next time I lift. It's fine though. It's mild and I've been dealing with it for years, only it's worse when I lift. I think it's more that I'm holding stuff in my palm, like dumbbells or hanging onto the par for pull ups. It's seasonal and I just always wondered what the heck it was. Now I know.
