Nelie and Rhonda, it wasn't 205x9, it was 205x1, dizzy, put hands on knees till that goes away, walk around, have a talk with my spine about staying INSIDE my body, get set, 205x1, hands on knees....
Lydia, I think I know what you mean about muscle recruitment/activation being another layer in your training..? I call it "greasing the groove" and by that, I just mean regular practice going through the movement. Especially on something like olympic lifts, which are like walking and chewing gum and juggling at the same time, regular practice can make the difference between improving, or repeatedly "relearning" the movement pattern, at least for me.
Yesterday was a good one, we did 1RM snatches. Hardly anybody showed up..guess a lot of folks were either wiped out or just horrified after Monday's wod, and didn't realize it would be a focus/recovery wod, so they stayed home. The few of us that did show had a good time chatting, though, and we got in a few PRs, but mostly lots of practice and technique work. I realized I need to be putting snatch balance into my warm-ups, since when it gets heavy, I start resorting to either power snatching or muscle snatching...a little intimidated by catching heavy weights in the bottom of the squat, apparently, so the snatch balance is supposed to help cure that.
