Default Squatting facing a wall - harder than it looks

I've been doing my kettlebells and one key thing with kettelbells is good squatting form. So one of the exercises you do is squatting facing the wall, working up to the point where your toes touch the wall.

I thought it wouldn't be that hard... uhh it kicks my butt. I get extremely tired doing it.

The idea is to be able to pick up a kettlebell with your toes touching the wall without any other part of your body touching the wall. Also, you have to keep squat form, flat back, stomach tight, toes up, toes only slightly turned up, etc.

So anyway, this exercise has reminded me of how much my squats suck I have been practicing this exercise though and I'm getting better and lower each time.

Nelie, do your knees hit the wall? I'm thinking of the old rule about knees being out over the toes (even just a little bit) to keep your form right. Now I have to get up and try this, minus the kettelbell!

OK, not too bad. I wanted to fall backward & kept doing so for some reason. Kinda hurt my knees. ??

No, knees will not hit the wall. It is usually your forehead that will hit it if anything.

Hmmm, I'm assuming you're doing this in the privacy of your own home? I'm getting a visual that has me looking rather like an idiot. It does sound like a good way to improve your form though - sans kettlebells.

wow, just tried sans weight. My boobs hit the wall and I start to fall backwards. I'm also afraid to go down very far! Maybe I need a weight? I'll run upstairs to the "gym" later and try it with a dumbbell!

I don't think I have any boobs to hit the wall with but you can start further back at first.

Pat,

Yes I'm doing it in the privacy of my own home but I've done it at work a few times too throughout the day.

Try looking up while you squat. I always pick a spot at the top of the wall, if my eyes wander down my torso starts to tip forward.
