Default The Chat Check In, August 16 - 31, 2007

I'm a little early. It's August 16 in the UK, so if silver is still reading she can post now on the right thread

I'm back on track with food- managed to go in to a convenience store, buy one of MY trigger foods for my son, and leave without THE VOICE suggesting that I grab something for me. Now that I've mentally labeled it "Not My Food" I'm safe. What stupid mental games I (we?) have to play. I roasted a whole turkey last Sunday and have been eating endless turkey. Turkey with salsa, turkey with broccoli, turkey with basil and tomatoes...I'm a little sick of turkey! I figure I've got about 3 more days worth or freeze it and move on

I went out looking at ellipticals this evening. Boo hiss! They sure are expensive even for junky ones. I'll be using my 1/2 dead one for a while longer. The sales teen-ager at Sears assured me that Nordic Track ellipticals were the gold standard of the fitness industry and would never ever break. I offered to swap my broken one with one of theirs.

Shoulders today. I'm getting weaker Despite no visible change in my muscles (if anything I have MORE) I've had to drop my max weight on overhead presses by 10 pounds Oh well, it's still a good workout.

have a good one!

I've been a naughty girl. My last workout was on the 8th. That's a stinkin' week, for Pete's sake. Sheesh. I've been really busy and it's been hotter than **** (can we say "****" here? ). Temps have been 103-107 outdoors and running the same to plus 10 more in our house here. Yeah, so I've not been working out and I'm not going to feel too badly about it.

But, tomorrow's high is only 100 and then down into the 90s after that. Yay! So, this post is to serve as public notice (and pressure/guilt/whatever motivating mind games I choose to play with myself) that I start back up tomorrow. I'm going to buy another fan, too, so I can aim that sucker right at me during workouts!

Dang it.

Yay, I got to change my ticker!

Diane - Yikes, that is deathly hot. I would have a hard time working out too.

It's finally cooling off a little here, I can even run in the evening without melting away.

My UBWO yesterday was a little sub-par, I was kind of tired and grumpy, cut out a few sets to get it over with faster.

Eating is good this week, the scale progress is encouraging, hopefully it will keep me on track this weekend.

Congrats on the ticker, Shan, and on the clean eating, Mel!!

I've just completed today's workout. Man, that sucked. LOL Did my 30 minutes or so of full body weights, then finished with 30 minutes of incline treadmill. I had to drop the speed down to 3 mph and highest incline was 6. It was just too darn hot (104). I started getting lightheaded on the weights so took it easier on the treadmill.

Come on, winter!

Yeah, I was wondering if this was a he-man only thread . Ah well, now that I'm a Ninja Warrior, I probably qualify ! Ahh, just enjoying the end of summer here - no rules, just living free until school starts on the 27th!

What's worse is starting early and getting out late bc of all the freebie/teacher planning days thrown in. We just got out on June 20, which is only a 9 week break! We started last year like Aug 26 as well.

Morning all!

Yay shan, go ticker go!

Diane, We had heat like that up here 2 weeks ago. I had been slacking too. I am glad to hear I am not the only one who doesn't want to work out in the heat. Good job biting the bullet. The heat soon will pass.

I took a lifting break yesterday to clean my house. I had been slacking in that area. We have this hard water that leaves stains everywhere. I am sore from hours of scrubbing but I have clean bathrooms!

My new school job starts late and ends early. I am very happy about this. I like the long break with my kids.

Running through.

Shoulder: impingement rather than rotator cuff - which is a good thing. Another 4 weeks of PT. My DH is going to think I've got something going with the therapist!

Weather - HOT (but not compared to the rest of you)

Work - frantic! But I'm off at 3 and at a church women's retreat until Sat afternoon. Then I'll spend the rest of the weekend doing chores I fear. Oh well.

Hi to everyone. Next week may be a little saner....

I got my speed/distance treadmill time in yesterday but didn't get to my abs then so threw it in today. Today, besides the make-up abs, I got through my full-body weights as well as incline treadmill time.

It's cooled off! Yay! Being only 90 degrees and with the new fan blowing right on me, I was able to breeze right through everything and I even increased weights and my treadmill intensity.

Tomorrow morning, we leave for a mini-vacation so I won't be doing my workouts Monday and Tuesday (Sunday is my rest day). I will, however, be walking and swimming my buns off for three days so I figure that counts.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hey yous guys.

If you haven't lately check out stumptuous.com on the what's new page. She has a great link to squat rx videos on youtube. They are far out.

Its a series that troubleshoots common problems with the squat and gives handy dandy solutions.

Morning
Just finished cardio and am dripping all over my keyboard. Probably for the first time in my life, I didn't eat enough yesterday and could barely maki it through my cardio this morning. I about died at the 37 minute mark. We went to a house concert yesterday afternoon and evening at my brother's, then ran into heavy traffic coming home. I'd brought enough food for 2 meals, and 2 feed my son (he can't eat any processed food- PITA). There was LOADS of food there- just nothing we could eat. At one point he looked at a sheet cake and said I couldn't pay him enough to touch it. And this from a 17 year old. We ate a lot of grapes and salad, and some pork roast that I'd brought.

Chest and jumping around today at lunch

It's cold and gloomy here- it was pitch dark when I got up. Yuk.

Have a good one,
Mel

Hi LWL,

School has started and we are getting back into some sort of routine. Now to fix my exercise around the work, school & sports agenda of the kids.
Good news is that yesterday I did the 1st time of the couch to 5k podcast, and made it fairly easily!!!I am actually looking forward to doing it again, probabely tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

Tonight is powerclass with my friend. We went last week and I did not have muscle soreness, only clonked out in a major way the day after, when I biked to work. I'll see how it goes tonight, but I am planning to bike again tomorrow, so I'll just take it as it comes.

Mel - pity about the food! I can empathize with the point of having loads of food around, only nothing you can actually eat without adverse effects. Must be hard on your son as well.

have a great day all,
Rabbit

Yesterday I was inspired to do a big lbwo and today getting up and down is painful. My muscles are saying "no more".

I had an epiphany yesterday on my run. For awhile I felt the need to make running progress and this was great and all but I think I am at the point where I am ready to maintain a steady state with my runs and get back into making progress in the weight lifting world.

I had been very diligent with push ups and hanging on the pullup bar and it shows but my lower body has been slacking. After an hour of running I don't have so much umph for lower body workouts.

Rabbit congrats on starting c25k. I have found running to be very addictive.
