  • I'm with you guys on the cc, I'm trying to love it:S

I went to the gym (with out DH and DD) I feel like I took a vacation My work out was awesome. It was the upper body work out. I did 6 reps with 30lbs DB. I'm hoping to increase my max to 35 by next week. I was feeling those calories burn!! I love this routine, you can feel it working as your doing it. My Bi's are pumped. If you could lose weight by working out alone, it would be easy. I read somewhere that it is 80% what you eat and only 20% what you do, and I believe it.

    Ok, enough rattling on..

Opti: I agree on the okra yuck!! slimy.

Water Rat: I love PB on toast for the same reason. ad just a little bananna, its yummy.
  • Week One Day Seven
Looking forward to WI tomorrow, I am thinking I am getting into the routine.

I got into a recorded Push Pull show and it was great.

Also found another container of CC in the fridge, still good, just forgot that I was out of yogurt not CC.

Meals and snacks packed for the day. I have my #3 snack waiting at home for me after my meeting tonight, preparation is like planning for success.
  • Quote: preparation is like planning for success.
AMEN!! Can I cross-stitch that on a pillow? :P really though, I should repeat that 7times every morning

I got my tail to the gym this morning, and did my 20 mins cardio. I pushed myself and gave 100% YAY! I didn't get to eat BF till 10:30 though.

I feels wonderful to be back on track
  • How is everyone doing? It seems the day is off to a promising start. I managed to make it through my upper body work out--with increased weight. I am wiped, my arms feel like noodles....but I feel so accomplished! I will admit that i haven't gotten to fit day, but it's not avoidance. It's work and my husband being sick and life. I did look at my food journal and notice that when I felt I didn't eat as well/clean as I'd like, it's nothing like it used to be. I had a larger meal last night because I missed 2 through out the day due to being busy at work.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to throw in the towel when it comes to the cottage cheese. I can't do it. I've tried putting stuff in it, on it, putting it in the blender to change the consistency.... I'm actually a bit down about it because I want so badly to like it because it's such a great portable protein...but even thinking about it turns me off to any type of eating....(sigh). Anyone know any other forms of portable protein?-- what I mean is, cottage cheese doesn't involve that much work. I've been using meat, hummus, and hardboiled eggs...I don't like tuna much either...still looking!
Hope everyone's day is an accomplished one.
  • Hi Optical: Don't feel too bad about the CC. My mom can't eat the stuff either. You probable could put it into protein pancakes and that does make it portable but it takes preparation. Another source of protein besides the ones listed well I would then use protein powder. You probably have already included this too though.

Liza: Good luck with the WI tomorrow!

WannaB: I'm taking the week off to be with DS1. He has camp all day next week and then he's back in school. I feel that he's hung out at the gym enough this summer during the mornings and I want to give him a break. So far it's driving me crazy. Glad your workouts are going great. I'll just live vicariously through you guys this week as you get your workouts in. I could get the lifting in but the cardio is a challenge. It's too hot to go for a run and I don't own a piece of cardio equipment. Oh well, it's just a week. Okay, maybe Saturday I'll head in...

Food is going okay. I took the boys to Steak and Shake for lunch. I ordered the grilled chicken and apple tossed salad without the dressing. It tasted okay and took the edge of my hunger while the boys downed unmentionable things like hungry wolves.
  • Lydia: wrestling with boys is defiantly cardio!! :P
  • WannaB: You got that right!

Okay I'm into day four of no workouts. I'm doing okay with this and whenever I get the inclination to head out for the gym I remind myself One: That I promised the boys it was an at home week no matter what, Two: That this planned rest/recovery is good for me as well as just plain necessary.

Food has been going great this week and the scale has dropped down a pound. True to my skeptical nature I will wait a few days before changing my ticker. I'm wondering though if the drop in the scale is more of a reflection of the lack of fluid retention that often occurs from lifting.

Anyway, have a great day everyone!
  • Interesting Lydia, I will be watching along with you to see what you find out about that theory.

I know not today, but could you take the boys for a neighborhood walk (they can walk or bike) tomorrow and Friday? We are supposed to have storms tonite that knock the hot air out, so I figure you are getting them this afternoon. My kids love to walk & will frequently ask to go out on a family walk. Then you could get a little bit of movement in even if it's not h/i cardio, and it's time with them as well.
  • Worked last night until 9:30 - not too bad and was awake at 5 am thinking about whether or not I would get up. I did get up and did a cardio DVD for 45 minutes. Totally shocked myself. The excuses are fading away.

WI is officially down 3.5 for the week, not too bad. I have a new shopping list and meal plan for next week. Taking advantage of the produce in season and my garden.

WANNA - cross stitch away, I am a planner by profession and DH says I brought planning to his family though I don't often see it there.

OPTICAL - Don't give up on the protein sources, you may want to try things that transport with a cooler pack and are tasty to you. I think salsa sauce is a great protein tool and this time of year, my garden is full of the ingredients to make my own.

LYDIA - You mean that having that cutey who is perched on your shoulders is not a cardio workout in itself??? Like WANNA says, I am thinking you will be getting cardio. I am at the point where I just tune into FIT TV and find something on the old cable channel.

Off to deal with the car dealer, I think they are in a snit because we are not using them for the financing.
  • Today's a wierd day. It's my birthday. I had promised myself cookies ( my weakness) on my birthday. But I don't want cookies. I made waffles this morning and put some whip cream and cinnamon on them..they are kashi waffles.. I ate a little too many raisins, and had 2 waffles before leaving for work...

At work, where I am now, I just ate a pita with hummus and some lunch meat...
My husband and I intend to go out to eat, but he's not feeling well, so I'm not sure if we'll go tonight or now.
I've come to realize that getting up before the crack of dawn to do cardio isn't agreeing with me. I'm dead, and I often don't do it. I must force myself to, but for some reason this hurdle is a hard one to jump. Going for walks after work usually doesn't work because I get home at 8:30. I need to think of something that is intriquing enough to get me out of bed....

I notice a bit of change in my appearance. My stomach is flatter and I can see the faint presence of muscle definition in my arms and stomach area... I also notice that I wear the most unflattering pants ever. I hardly wear pants at all, but i have 3 pairs of dress pants. They are loose-ish around my waist, but seem to pooch out on my lower stomach, so I look like an egg..I don't look that way with out pants...

Well, off to work. I am still fascinated by my lack of interest in cookies or sugary 'treats' of any nature...

    Not too bad, indeed! Liza!
  • Just invading your thread to say Happy Birthday, Optical Goddess!
  • Well, I gave in. Ihad a cookie. A straight out of the oven m&m chocolate chip cookie....it was divine.
My husband feels a lot better, but not to the point of going out. Instead we decided to get a Chicago pizza... 1.5 pieces later ( pineapple, cheese, canadien bacon), I am stuffed like a plush toy... not overly so, just enough. I don't regret the cookie because I held out until I happenend across one I really wanted.
  • Happy belated birthday, Optical Goddess!

Liza- down 3.5 in a week is great! where is the protein in salsa sauce?

Lydia- I need to remember that a rest week is sometimes a good thing....Enjoy the time with your boys.

  • Fran: Good suggestion. I think we may get a break today. High 80's and less humid. Yesterday was still sauna like. We hung out at the pool most of the afternoon so it wasn't a total loss. If its habitable outside today I may load up the bikes and take them to a park today.

Liza: Awesome job with the 3.5 loss this week! Great to know that the early morning exercise is getting easier to do too. There is such an adjustment period when trying to incorporate a new habit but once it's really in place it can be just as hard to stop. At least in the beginning. Sometimes. I'm still careful about reinforcing my exercise habit. They say it takes 20+days to create a new habit and only three to lose it. It's worth the fight though. Good luck with the car! About that little one on my shoulders, he is a very enthusiastic, boisterous, almost four year old. He wears me out, just a very physical child. It's okay though. I have a future lifting partner in this one. He is always asking when he can help me with my workout.

Optical: Happy Birthday!!!! MMMM. M&M Cookies!MMMMMM. Sounds like a good choice to me too.

    Mel and Pat

Okay Fran, so the scale jumped back up two pounds from yesterday. No lifting, no exercise outside of chasing DS2 in the pool so there we go. Anyway, I'm teetering on a loss so I'm not too worried sometimes these fluctuations happen right before a real loss. It's kind of like my body's way of testing to see if it's okay to be there... I really think if I can hang in there and not take a free meal this weekend that I'll see that loss again. My fitday chart is just full of these ups and downs.

So, who's having chicken and cottage cheese with me today? Not necessarily at the same meal of course. Oh, and the veggies...more veggies.
