I love bicycling. My husband and I usually bike 20 - 40 miles 4 - 5x a week in decent (I live in Minnesota) weather about 8 months out of the year. We've just bought systems to be able to bike indoors with our road bikes so we can keep our "bike butts" up through the winter. I hate that first few rides with a screaming sore tail bone in the spring,
I've recently read that you need to do weight bearing exercise to build bone strength and walking/running/jogging/dancing/arobics were the only cardio types mentioned. "You have to bear weight on your feet to build bone."
My question is if I'm lifting weights every other day (upper & lower BFL) and doing cardio every other day can my cardio be cycling? Is cycling only good for heart health? Is weight lifting not considered weight bearing for bone strength?
TIA, Beth
