It's anything Goes Friday! 2/6

  • Hello!

I read on the local radio web site that our school had a 2 hour delayed opening. School starts at 8:40am so + 2 hours = 10:40am right? No..I see the kid across the street with his backpack on ready to go. My kid is still sleeping. A 2 hour delayed opening means 10:00am. And they wonder why math scores are low????

Lucky that dh mustered up his marine drill seargant skills to get the kid there close to on time. sheeesh I think I'll curl up with a book and coffee.

hope you guys have a good day. What ya doin?

  • hi peachie.. i hit the school rush because i was late for work. and saw your marine drill seargent husband loading the kid into the car. but i was late, too.

shoveled the snow so it wouldn't ice. took maggie for a little expedition to the park, where she met her friends goliath the saint bernard, charles the collie [they live together] and their 'cousiin' baby, a chihuahua. and they ALL ran around in the rain.

and then to the bank to get some money for me so that i could get crunchy cat food because MOM was threatening to go the store to get it. took maggie in, and she greeted the ferrets, who were, for some reason VERY GLAD to see her.

and then home. and then to work. that's my life!!! oh. and the nails will get done tonight.. i think a french manicure since i have a business meeting next week.

nnothiing on for the weekend, at least as far as i know.

    boring boring boring.
  • I think that getting a manicure is pretty darn exciting, Jiff! BUT I think you should nix the french and go for #404. It is a shear pink that will give you a clean polished....almost virginal look.

Don't y'all think that Jiff should go for the virginal look?

Buffy, I didn't answer your question. I am down to 208...just chomping at the bit to get into onederland. I was hoping to be there by the middle of this month but I think maybe my the middle of March, if I work my butt off!

    peach
  • Jiff, you do all that BEFORE work? I need a nap just reading about it! I'm not touching the "virginal" question; as if I don't get myself in enough trouble...

Peachie, that's great on the wt. loss front! You can definitely reach your goal, especially now that you have walking gear! That and avoiding the yellow snow, what more could one wish for, when it comes to exercising outdoors?

Speaking of which, am I annoyed by the inability to take my walk today! My whole day is off balance when that happens. On the other hand, had this all been snow, I'd be out there all day, whether I wanted to or not, so I suppose I should stop complaining... Maybe it would be a good day to take a look at some of those tapes? At least remove the cellophane? Yeah, I think I should definitely do that, in the event that I ever actually consider DOING them! I am just absolutely no good at exercising indoors; one of those things that I simply have to overcome if this wt. loss thing is to be permanent.
  • WORK? is there anything else? No plans for the weekend either, unless I call and get an appointment to have my hair colored. I had a perm a week ago Wed, and they said to wait 2 weeks to color, but I think maybe this is long enough............okay, I called and the girl I wanted will not be back till Monday, so I guess I'll make it the two weeks after all!!!

So...still no plans for the weekend.
  • Thank God it's Friday, work was very stressful this week. I hate stress! I don't eat or drink most of the day until late, and then I think oh I need lunch., or oh I need to drink something.
I live for the weekends. Hubby and I go out every Saturday night, (baring bad weather or illness) ever since we were dating for the past 30 some years. Out to eat, or maybe to the bar to play cards. or to the casinos... Hubby has a few drinks , I had quit drinking a few years ago with my diabetes. I drive home. The weekends go way to fast.
  • Manicures
My friends are always amazed when they hear that I have NEVER had a professional manicure in my entire life.

I think it had a lot to do with my feelings about if you are FAT- it doesn't matter what else you do because nobody will notice your nails if you're overweight.

But very recently I have started to take better care of my nails just to make myself feel better. I have been filing them and putting on cuticle cream. I have also used a buffing board to add a bit of shine.

I am glad I did it because it does make me feel better to look down and see my hands looking nicer these days.

It's a baby step but it's heading in the right direction.

    --Pookie
  • oh pookie. i'm so glad you're taking care of your nails. and of YOU. this whole WLS adventure is about taking care of ourselves, about putting ourselves first in the priorities. it's HARD!!!! and some days, impossible. but we have to.

if we don't commit to the vitamins, water, eating, exercise, etc. we are at risk of serious disability from deficiencies. and of gaining the weight back..

soooo keep up the great work!!!!!
  • Pookie, I'm right with you! I've never had a manuicure, a pedicure or any spa treatment. I had a massage once and it was fabulous. But, you're right, the weight issues get in the way. I'm going to follow your lead and do something about these nails. I think I'll run to Wally World and buy stuff and even, maybe, apply polish. Oh be still my heart!
    Chickadee
  • Hey Chickadee

WALLY WORLD sounds like an amusement park, but I take it that it some kind of store.

Good for you on the nails. The only part I am leaving out is the polish.
I know from the past that the chipping drove me crazy and I also had the bad habit of peeling some of it off! I find that the nice little shine you get from the buffing boards keeps me happy. I am also using one of the products from the Philosophy cosmetics line called "Save the Nails". I just put a little of that salve on and it conditions the nails and gives them a little bit of a glossy look.

My oh my we are all going to be soooo Glamourous around here!
  • I don't do manicures or nail polish because my finger nails feel like they are suffocating.

Jiffy, you do more before work than most people do AT WORK!!!! I am still living the life of leisure (HA) NO school today--can anyone tell me why when you normally have to drag children out of bed, they are up bright and early when there is no school? I was trying to be quiet.

I too take the dogs to the park before work, they romp and play and then I take them home where they crash on my bed, with their wet and muddy feet until I take them out again. they are still dogging my every step, right now they are both asleep at my feet while I am on the computer.

PEachie, that is great, keep up the work, and I know it is work. I think there must be alot of stress at home with your son. My son, age 15, is diagnosed psychotic disorder NOS ( meaning they don't know where it came from) and is hyper active and for the most part is arguementative, defiant, whiney and all around a pain in the butt, but he is my pain in the butt. some times he can be so helpful and loving and other times I just want to kill him, thank goodness it is against the law, otherwise it might have been done a long time ago.
