Had VSG Surgery!!

  • Ok Ladies,

I have been a long time member of 3fc and a moderator at one point.. Well I'm so excited to say that I had "sleeve" surgery on October 7th, 2010..

I have tried everything in the book and now I finally feel like I have control over my body.

Life is great! I'm losing weight, I'm eating right, I'm not hungry and my energy level is through the roof..

If anyone is considering surgery and has any questions, I am elated to share my experience..

It's not the easy way out, It's still a lifetime commitment!
  • OMG!!!! where have you been all this time? i remember you!!! who did your surgery? what does your family think? how are you handling the changes?

it's great to see you, darlin! welcome to our little corner of the world!
  • Penny!!! It's been forever! How are you, how is the surgery?! Please let us know!
  • So glad I found a VSG post I am strongly considering having the sleeve in June. I am very excited for it but I do have a few questions. I am only 24 and still love to go out with friends and such. I am okay doing well the food changes and have already met with nutritionalists. But I do have a question of whether I can drink alcohol after the surgery. I know that carbonated drinks are out, but what of wine or vodka mixed with low-cal juices? Do any of you have experiences with alcohol post surgery?

Alcohol after VSG is okay BUT there are a few things to know. First, be VERY careful about such things, as transfer addictions are quite common. Second, when your body is rapidly losing weight, your liver is working overtime. Guess what else is taxing on the liver? Alcohol. So, I would abstain from most alcohol for at least the first 6-12 months after surgery (or until your weight loss slows significantly).
  • Great Advice Jill!

You can go out and have a great time and NOT drink! I have not drunk anything in three years and still don't feel the need to drink

Jill!!! Oh my gosh it has been FOREVER!!! I'm doing wonderful!

This has been the best thing I have ever done for ME!!!

I'm loving life and not loving food!! LOL I have replaced my vice for food for a vice for life!
