Default So I might be Crazy

You guys know I am it's true
So I wanted to try one of those anti inflammation diets. I'm off meds My legs are swollen and sore I waffled back and forth for a bit

I'm going to try a modified version of The Ultra Simple diet (I hate the word diet)
It's Dairy Free (this was a little personal fight Me vs Me "but I love dairy" But if you're not sore and swollen won't you love that more?" we'll see
Gluten free as much as I love bread it kills me
and egg free (this is probably going to get modified as a rou en y chick i need my bonus protein

I'm getting the book sometime this week but also getting prepared with some stuff beforehand

A good friend of mine who's a Wellness coach was saying this guy is pretty on the money. . .If it can make me not feel like poop without drugs
for those who don't know me I have fibromyalgia and all fibro drugs make me the cookie monster
ok off to hit the showers!

Kier - some people do well with an anti-inflammation diet. but i've generally heard that folks with arthritis shouldn't eat eggplant, peppers, tomatoes. maybe your new eating plan [see??? no diet!!!] will help - or maybe you'll need to tweak it. but bottom line, it's worth trying!

A friend sent me the Menu for it (Tho I am getting the book today)
I'm thinking so little (non shake) protein during the day isn't a great idea

So my thought is this I'm going to follow SBD ph 2 keep my eggs dammit! and see how I do with no dairy and gluten

I have to have my protein in order to feel good and not go crazy pants!

Diet plays a large role in my flares of the fibro. Wheat, as it turns out is a major trigger. Sugar is another major trigger.

I also swear by my fish oil capsules. I use a higher dose than average under my doctor's supervision. I take it two to three times a day. It makes a noticeable difference in the inflammation.

Hi Kaplods
I must say I'm really hoping the wheat is the major player b/c I love dairy!

Unsweetened fruit doesn't usually cause me problems, as long as I'm sensible. If I go too far overboard with fruit, I will get some of the symptoms I usually associate with processed sugar, but it takes a lot of fruit to see the effects of say a snickers bar. I rarely ever eat canned fruit, because even the ones canned in juice are usually too high in sugar. I make an exception for lychees. I'll buy them canned, drain them, and then freeze them flat on a tray, and then put them in a ziploc bag - but I treat them like candy and have two or three fruit (they're about the size of a very large grape). They're so high in sugar that they don't freeze solid. They're slightly slushy like a popsicle.

When I stick to my exchange plan, I do really well. I limit fruits to 4 servings and starch to 2 servings, though occasionally will swap (trading fruit for starch or vice versa), or I sometimes go "overbudget" by a starch or fruit serving. If I do more than a serving or two "over budget" I will start to see symptoms. I think the overall carb content seems to be the prime suspect in the flare. There seems to be a lower threshold for grains than fruit, but I have had flares from overdoing fruit. When one of my favorite fruits are in season I tend to overeat them at least once or twice during the season. Ranier cherry season is a prime example. I push my limits and then regret it. The "cherry diet" works great for weight loss, but I do end up with a mild flare from eating too many. I did better this year than most years (which was good, because it was a long season. Most years it's a three week season at most. We had five or six weeks of cherries this year).

I don't seem to have a problem with nightshade veggies (though it may be denial - no way I'm giving up my tomatoes, eggplant, and peppers) though I've read that cooking helps reduce the ill effects of nightsade veggies so I don't eat raw tomatoes or peppers as much as I used to.

Dairy isn't a major trigger for me, but I do better with fermented dairy (cheese and yogurt) than I do milk. I can and do use cheese as protein/fat servings, and don't notice a problem with that. I tend to use yogurt as my dairy serving more often than milk. It could be mild lactose intolerance (or just the fact that I'm not a huge milk fan).

Here's Susan butting in again ... It's so worth it to figure this out! My thing is arthritis in my sacroiliac joints. Without grain, potatoes and hot peppers, I can't remember the last time I used ibuprofen, naprosyn or anything like that.

The Dark Circles thing REALLY REALLY sounds like Gluten problems, I know a lot of people who have changed their entire lives by dumping gluten

Hey KO! Along with my friend, Arthur Itis, I do have fibro; pretty severe at times. I also have three sisters that suffer with it also and a niece who is severely limited at times because of it. So give me a preview of the "Ultra Simple Diet". Is it a cupboard sensible book? I haven't looked it up on the internet yet. It is really all new to me. I don't do dairy alot; but use whole grains in just about everything. Strange gurgly sounds....teehee. I've now reduced myself to a 10 year old kid!!!

How's the house coming? Anymore thoughts on the service dog? Take care of yourself.
