RNY is not the only option for WLS. Have you considered the Duodenal Switch? Basically it maintains the natural fuction of the stomach which allows you to have a lot of things you would be unable to with RNY. Check out dsfacts.com which has a lot of great information about it. Any surgery has it's limitations but if it's something you want you need to know the options available.

Thanks ladies. Every few months I go back and forth. I feel like I should be able to do this alone (I'm a 'mind over matter' person) and then I get back on WW and I'm hungry all the time and I over eat everything (even if it's vegetables) and I think, if I could just have restrictions with my appetite I'd be able to do it. Then I think but if I lose so fast and have lose skin, I'd rather be what I am (sometimes). This is the only area in my life that I feel I don't have control over. And it's hard.

I was on WW for at least 2.5 years, religiously keeping track of my points & going to meetings, and got down to 220. Despite all my work, extra exercises, less points, more water, followed every bit of advice given by my leader, I got stuck at 220 for 9 months.

I was stable at that weight, but got so discouraged that I gave up. I was always hungry, miserable and tired on WW, despite being "successful" in restricting my diet. I guess I'm a little different in that I can restrict what I eat, I can force myself to starve, and I can do this for a long time, but I become miserable with the slow results and inevitable stalls that seem to defy all my work.

And while a lot of people do really well on WW, I don't think, for me, that it would be able to help me achieve all of my weight loss goals.

I'm not knocking WW, by the way, it's a great program for a lot of folks. My guy friend went from 280 to 180 on it a few years ago, and he's really happy. I figured I was just broken.
