I have 100 pounds to lose but I am TOTALLY TERRIFIED to try any of these methods. I thought about it, read up on it, even talked to three sisters who had gastric bypass and decided no way. I figured if I wanted to lose the weight badly enough, I'd make the effort and do it. The cost also sent me into shock!!!

Don't get me wrong, I am definitely NOT knocking those of you who are brave enough to do it. I personally am a scaredy cat. I am just saying I would be afraid to do it.

fear is natural. really and truly. we're ALL afraid at some point. what's MOST IMPORTANT, though, is that you make the decision that's right for YOU. if and when surgery looks like a better choice, you'll know it.

we're not here to tell people what to do or not to do, but to provide support for people, no matter what their decision is. and that means that you're more than welcome to hang out here and ask questions and help us cheer each other on.

It's all about pluses and negatives. For me, WLS was not an option for a long time. When my mother had a massive heart attack at age 59, and I learned I was now double the risk for the same, it really helped change my mind about it. As well, talking to people that had it really helped ease my mind as you hear so many horror stories from "so and so's friend...".

Every experience is different. Everyone has the right to make the decision for themselves. Good luck finding what works for you.
