nancy- I haven't had WLS but use a lot of protein powder. I buy mine at Amazon, Netrition.com and vitaglow.com, or have custom batches made a theproteinfactory.com (not sure if they are still in business...it's been a while.
Netrition has the widest variety I've ever seen and is extremely reliable. Amazon sometimes has the best prices and if you are going to be ordering from them alot, paying for the amazon prime shipping right off the bat is worthwhile.

Best wishes!

one last point, nancy. you're looking for protein powder that gives you 20-25 grams of protein/amino acids per scoop. and that has about 100 calories, with less than 15 grams of carbs. there are some that have 0 grams of carbs, and that's just fine. let us know what you find! we're ALWAYS looking for new protein powders!

Jiffy, is my computer time right and your post was 1:45 a.m.!? I'm usually up at that time to change my nightgown (Hot FLash) and back to bed to put my big, chunky, cold, rump back on my husband! LOL! He said since I had my hyster, he hasn't had a goodnights sleep yet! I have sampled the Nectars, matrix 5.0 and Any Whey and liked them all except the chocolate. Chocolate, one of the major food groups. I can't believe I didn't like it. I am try to find a website where I can get all three of these products. Someone suggested Vitalady for samples and I think I am going to try some of them. Other people have also mentioned that their taste changed and not to order a big bunch at one time. Looking at the price of most of them, I doubt I will be ordering a BIG bunch. I'm on clear liquids for about four to six days and then go to full for 14 days, and the pureed for 14 days and soft for a week and day 42 regular. I have run into the term Isolate a few times and haven't figured that one out yet. How do you all get your fiber in? Most people say they eat between a 1/2c and a 3/4 c. at a time and mostly concentrate on eating protein first then veggies. I have quite a few questions for the NUT, but I won't see her again until after surgery. I've never had any experience with protein powders. I'm trying EAS right now and realized that the one container has 11 oz. Guess that is about two meals right there. Thank you for all the suggestions and help.

NANCY there's not a snowball's chance in H+++ that i posted at 1:45 AM!

and now for the rest of your question - for the protein drinks, think of them in terms of grams of protein rather than volume. that means that a scoop should have about 20-25 grams of protein, and it should be mixed with about 8 oz of liquid [and that's approximate - you might prefer them with a little less or a little more]

as for the fiber - don't worry about it for awhile. if you're getting constipated, ask your doc about a fiber supplement. lots of folks use metamucil. i didn't need one - not quite sure why, but there it is! the key thing, though, to avoid constipation is WATER!!! gotta tell you - and this might be a bit weird - once i had the surgery, i needed water. more of it than i could have ever imagined. for some reason, i seem to be using it differently than before surgery.

i'm not worried about it - it's just something a bit odd.
