Default 20 lbs lost in 2 1/2 weeks!!!

I cannot believe that I have lost 20 lbs since I got home from surgery... this is just craziness!!! I keep looking at the scale thinking to myself that the next time I weigh myself it will be back on- but it keeps going down! I actually lost 5 lbs a day 2 days in a row this week!!! How is this even possible? I mean, I know I gained 5 lbs the first week after surgery, but it has since melted away. And I am eating everyday- drinking protein shakes and water and eating cottage cheese and chicken salad- I feel great!

Is this normal? I mean, I am gonna wake up tomorrow and find it all to stop? Is it just the first few weeks that are like this.... is it water weight? Is it because my BMI was so high to begin with?

Going crazy! ~ Melissa

There will be times when your body will stop losing weight for short periods of time. Mine was not until I was near week 4. DONT GET UPSET ABOUT IT!!! You should really not weigh yourself daily it is a bad habit and can effect you mentally. I step on the scale the same way every time and only 2 times a week Sunday and Wednesday mornings. There were times I would go for 10 to 14 days with no loss and then your body starts giving up the weight again. You are attempting to reprogram your body from years of abbuse to a somewhat normal mode again.

Congrats and keep up the GREAT WORK!!!

relax - you're doing fine. the first couple of weeks are truly amazing. i lost 18 pounds my first week, and then 1.5 pounds a day for the next 6 weeks. it's ok. it's the way it's supposed to be. BUT

1. make SURE you're hitting your protein goals
2. DRINK YOUR WATER - with the fat loss comes all kinds of byproducts, and your kidneys need the water to flush it out of your system.
3. start exercising. nothing huge or ambitious, but get moving - it will help keep the weight loss going as far as it can.

keep up the GREAT WORK!!!!!!
