Default Oatmeal Question

Hi
I just had instant plain aka regular flavor oatmeal (tummys a bit tenuous for dairy today) I was wondering since the protien is pretty low have any of you put protien powder in it? did it make the texture ooky (color me verbose!) Would I be better off just making it in the future with milk?
Thanks,
Kier

here's what i know. and what i've tried. some people mix protein powder into it. i found that disgusting. but some people like it a lot.

so, here's what i did: a protein shake pre-oatmeal, and that worked just great, as long as i allowed about 15 minutes between drinking and eating. and the oatmeal had to be very very thick - not at all runny, because then it just goes right through the pouch, and what's the point of that??!!

When I was on South Beach I used to mix slivered almonds in with the oatmeal. Also, in talking with the nutritionist about the fact the oatmeal wasn't holding me until lunch she suggested making it with milk.

I've put Unjury unflavored protein powder into oatmeal a number of times and found it to be just fine - not ooky or disgusting at all. You can't have the oatmeal too hot though or the protein will clump up and be gross.

I don't know how post op you are but I'm almost 4 years post op and when I eat oatmeal I like to put in some high protein cereal. I really like the Back to Nature Hi Protein Crunch Cereal. For a half cup there are 15 grams of protein and it adds a nice crunch and flavor to your oatmeal. I don't think I would like the protein powder in the oatmeal. Like I said I'm sorry I don't know how postop you are but there are 14 grams of sugar in the cereal so you might want to becareful.

I hope that helps!

I've used the unflavored Unjury as well, but I just bought some berry flavored protein powder from bariatriceating and it's delicious in my oatmeal!!!!!!!
The protein powder has actual berries in it. I love this stuff.

It's called Protein Delite by Scitec Nutrition.
