Amen, sister.

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here's one for all of you. This is Shelby Right, one of the personal trainers at my gym. She's a pro figure competitor, 5' 2" and 130 pounds. Overweight? You be the judge!

I'll need a LOT of surgery to look like her!

Like Meg mentioned before it is all about the fat %. I can't wait to get back down to 150-160 and if I can get to 135-140, even better!

I agree that weight charts and BMI are worthless.

I'm 5'6" and 198 pounds. That sounds huge ,but for me it is on the skinny side and I don't have much bodyfat left (nor am I a bodybuilder). The last time I checked my bodyframe it was within the medium range so I guess I'm just compact. LOL

In order to get to a so-called healthy weight I would have to lose over forty pounds and that isn't happening unless I amputate a few limbs.

Realistically I am aiming to lose another 3-5 pounds. Anything more than that and I would start looking sickly. Basically I just go by how my clothes fit and how I feel.

FYI the WW chart is based on BMI.... and yup BMI does not take into account people who are really muscular. But with that being understood, dismissing BMI really is only a good idea IF YOU ARE REALLY MUSCULAR and fit!! Of course there are exceptions but I think for most of us who aren't body builders or personal trainers these are still good ranges. For many of us who have been overweight for years it is truly difficult to imagine existing at a healthy weight... the numbers just seem so tiny! When I look back at pictures of me at about 118 (high school!) I was really healthy and curvy and beautiful so I know its possible for me. I just can't imagine my body that small but I'm going to ignore what my faulty self-imagery says and go for it!

Unfortunately Doctors are not educated very well in terms of nutrition, so it stands to reason they might have a skewed perspective on what a "healthy" weight means. I've heard a lot of horror stories about the kind of advice people have received from doctors about weightloss and nutrition.

So when it comes to finding the right weight for you, you might be better off speaking to a dietition or someone of that nature.
