A myth, I don't know, since if they party too much, they'll drink too much and indeed gain the weight from alcohol. But it could be logical. What are we when going to college, 18-19 for the most of us? Going from living at mommy's-daddy's, with everything ready on the table, to having to choose our own. I knew of plenty of young people like me at the time who weren't even able to properly use the washing-machine, least know what they should eat to stay healthy without going weight. Not that surprising in my eyes, in the end.

This said, I'm getting more and more confident. The past week has been really a good start, and I think that yes, I can make it so that the "freshman 15" will become the "freshman minus 15", sort of. I hope I'll be ableto keep my commitment once classes really start to kick in. it might be, since I won't have enough time to actually remove my hands from books and pens to put stuff in my mouth instead.

I lost a lot of weight when I started college. I don't know how much, because I didn't have a scale, but people noticed! I contribute it to the fact that I lived with a super skinny (think model) roommate who inspired me to eat more salads and drink less soda. I also had to scale a pretty big hill at least 4 times per day, and I probably walked 2 miles a day (huge campus). I carried a water bottle everywhere. I didn't have time to snack much between meals.

I was sort of forced to improve my lifestyle. Then I graduated... and well... I swelled to 60 lbs heavier than I had been, and now I'm fighting to get back to where I was.

Aha, living with skinny people also has that effect on me - out of self-consciousness probably, I don't want them to think I pig out at every meal, so I pay more attention to not eating large portions nor junk foods.

Campus really seems to be a good opoortunity to walk a lot. Especially when you need to run from one office to another all day long to get some stupid paper signed. Ah, the joys of administration! Of French administration, here!

I hope you'll manage to get things back in control again. Fighting sucks, but it sucks less than gaining on more weight, or at least never losing ours, right?
