Talking Down to 135 now

The weight is finally moving again after being stuck for 5 months. Yes, 5 months. 5 long months of up's and down's and fighting the same 2 pounds over and over and over again and pretty much stuck at 138-139.

Just wanted to post that for anyone who may be stuck on a plateau. I'm living proof that if you just keep doing all the right things, it WILL start moving again eventually. May take a few weeks, may take a few months. But it'll move.

I think I'm about ready to settle, though. I really don't see where 5 more pounds is going to make a difference in my appearance. Because I don't look any different at 135 than I did at 140. But then I look at myself every day, too, so I may not notice. I saw a family member recently after about a year's time and she said, "You get skinnier every time I see you!" (she meant it as a compliment) so I guess maybe others can tell. But I can't.

Anyway, after a 5-month plateau it's moving again. So don't give up

P.S. they weren't kidding about these last 10 pounds, sheesh!

Way to go Linda! Feels like we've all been with you on this one, and yes it is a relief to know that even the most stubborn of plateaus can be broken through.

I'm so glad the scale has started moving in the right direction again for you!

You've cheered me up this morning as I was getting down about being stuck at this weight for a few months no matter what I've tried.

Congratulations on hanging tough, Linda! It makes a lot of sense to call 135 goal and focus on maintaining now. Hey, we'd love to have your story and some 'before and afters' in our Goal! forum!! You're a fabulous success story!

Thanks, everyone, I appreciate the good cheers. Cuz whew! Yep, it's been a looong 5 months. I think it was more of a mental thing for me. I wanted to be closer to 130 than 140, or at least somewhere in the middle. If more comes off, then it comes off, but I'm not worrying about it too much anymore. I'll continue to eat healthy and count my calories (something I'll probably do for the rest of my natural born life, lol) and let things go as they may. As long as the scale doesn't start moving back UP, I'll be happy.

As for before and after pics, you know, I'm terribly camera shy. Not many pictures of me exist because anytime someone pulls out a camera, I'm gone!

Thanks for the post! I have been in the 155 range for 6 months now. I just joined a gym so I hope to push through it, It is great to hear that you got out of it - there is hope for me! When I initially lost weight after my daughter, I didn't plateau THIS long so now I am getting a little frustrated.

Yes, it's VERY frustrating. But just keep it up and it will start coming off again. I read an article on plateaus once where it basically says, "Hey, your body knows what its doing. It stops the weight loss for a reason. Keep doing the right things and it will start letting go again eventually."

So okay, I bought it and kept going, lol.

WTG, LLV. Those last 10 lbs. took forever it seemed on me too. It does feel so great to finally bust through a long plateau. Congratulations.

Way to go!

And I definitely know what you mean about the last ten pounds! I know the scale is not the only measure of progress, but it still feels great when it starts to move again!
