That's possible, I suppose. I just wish she'd stick WITH something and get that weight off. I know she wants to. But she eventually sees no point and gives up.

I'm not preaching to her. I won't do it. There's nothing more boring than sitting around listening to someone go on and on about their eating habits and how they lost weight unless they WANT to hear it. I've been around people like that, who sit and preach to everyone about eating habits and that they should start eating this or they shouldn't eat that and I'm not going to be one of those people.

If she wants my advice, she'll ask for it. And she has a couple of times. When she asked me what I was doing, I told her. I told her about fitday and logging everything I eat and basically just watching my calories. So she started watching portions and eating better and lost 32 pounds and now she's putting it all back on again. She's pretty heavy, close to 300 pounds.

I sometimes wonder if it isn't those "comments" that sometimes cause some of our problems of being overweight, or send some into anorexia and other eating disorders. You know...the oh so helpful comments from the nosey busy-body types? Most people just mean well but don't know how to go about discussing it appropriately. But some people always have something to say about every subject and are always the ones who are the most knowlegable about it...no matter what "it" is. They're the ones without the M.D. degrees but still seem to know more than your doctor. I've got a few of them in my family. I'm dealing with the blatant attempts to hinder my exercise and healthy eating, as well as the comments. But I'm also dealing with all those who seem to know how to raise my child better than I do, or know more about what he can/can't have than his pediatrician does. I found long ago that you can't argue with them...they're right, always have been and always will be. But...you can ignore them. Oh boy can you ignore them.

I totally understand. I don't even want to go to family functions because of their remarks. I've even been accused of being "anorexic". It makes me so angry because I really lost weight in an honest manner. No supplements, no crazy plans, no crazy calorie cutting, no insane workout regimens. Just good old fashioned calorie cutting (no less than 1800 most of the time) and moderation of foods in restaurants. And I get cr@p from my family. It's so infuriating. I totally understand anybody else who's going through this. It really makes me wonder if it's really truly concern, or if it's just plain jealousy....It can drive you nuts, especially when you hear from someone else what they're saying and you can't even defend yourself. It's almost sabotaging! But I won't let them. I'm going to give this maintenance my best shot! Don't let them sabotage you!
