Default lunch for a SAHM

Anyone got any ideas for lunch for a SAHM. I have been eating frozen burritos all week long, and that has got to stop (I am just now trying to get back on track) Why is it that when my stomache growls all my good intentions go right out the window, till my stomach is filled then reality comes back to slap me in the face.

anyway....Im tring to keep it between 1200-1500 cal. It seems so impossible! So what does everyone else eat for lunch... and breakfast for that matter.

And btw, I'm not a big salad eater.

Hi, I eat salad when I work (4 days). When I am home, I make tuna fish with reduced fat mayo and use only a little bit of it. I spread it on low-fat crackers and top it with pickles or black olive slices. (my dd loves it too). I like snacky lunches. I also cut up an large apple into slices, carrot sticks, celery and spread Laughing cow light swiss on some and peanut butter on others. I love burritos too but I make my own with ff refried black beans, salsa and chopped lettuce.
Lunch is always hard for me because the kids like to snack all day (on good food) that they never eat a lot for lunch so I never make "formal" lunches.
I hope this helps.

Veggie tacos - easy to fix. Nuke 2 veggie burgers in the microwave, cut them up. Heat up 3 small whole wheat tortillas. Fill tortillas with veggie burger, vegetables, spinach leaves, top with a little low fat cheese and lots of salsa. Grilled chicken would be a good substitute for veggie burger if you don't like "fake meat."

Turkey sandwich on whole grain with lettuce, tomato, spicy mustard, onion, bowl of tomato soup. I like the Pacific brand roasted red pepper and tomato.

Home made tuna salad with a little low fat mayo, onions and pickle in a whole wheat pita with lettuce, tomato, sweet potato french fries on the side.

I don't have to worry about a hungry stomach destroying my good intentions, because I plan my meals in advance, on Sunday so I have everything ready when it's time to eat.

Mmm veggie burgers, I forgot about them. I love Morning Star grillers, chik and black bean pattes!

Or if you're criminally hungry, nuke a Boca Chick'n Patty. Make a sandwich using whole wheat bread, lettuce, ketchup and whatever else you like. I've never had Wendy's fatty version of the above but I would bet this tastes just like it. *drool* Now MY tummy is grumbling.

Breakfast is usually oatmeal or eggs. Lunch is a salad, fish and veg or a healthy leftover from dinner (stir fry, soup, whatever). I keep pria bars around in case I get really busy or don't have time for breakfast.

Or, join the kids and eat several healthy snacks during the day! Why should they have all the fun.

first thing in the morning make a nice sandwich on whole grain bread, little mayo, or mustard, veggies and meat. Put it on a plate in the fridge and now you have a ready made lunch. I also love boca burgers, nuke one in the microwave and put it on whole wheat piece of toast, add some cheese and ketchup and you feel like you are being bad but you aren't.

Default working vs...home

When I work, it is almost ALWAYS a Lean Cuisine or Smart Ones with some extra fruit or veggies....at home, I try to be more creative with some wraps or egg beaters, turkey bacon, etc....

My DH favorite lunch is whole wheat English Muffin Pizzas.....

I usually have eggs or Oats for breakfast. I use grilled chicken strips from Tyson for a low-carb, whole wheat quesadilla for lunch. I also eat small chef salad's for lunch quite often. Sometimes, I make a sandwich with whole wheat bread for lunch. I love unsweetened tea or home-made lemonade for a beverage. I am a SAHM now too and I like to keep my lunches simple.

Thanks for all the great ideas ladys! Lilybelle, I wish I liked unsweetened tea! I absolutly LOVE sweet tea, and I have to stay away from it cause I don't know how to drink it in moderation... the more drink the more I want it.

cyclone, what does the muffin pizza consist of...it sounds good!
