It took me a long time (like, 35 years) to learn the gracious art of saying "thank you". Once, a woman I admired complimented me on a necklace I was wearing. I started talking about how it was on sale at Kohl's and she touched my arm, looked me in the eye, and said very gently, "'Thank you' is all you need to say."
That was so telling for me. After that, I began to pay attention to how people responded to compliments. I eventually began to deliver a genuine but simple "why, thank you!" It's come in handy, as now I simply say that when someone comments on my weight.
I mostly respond to the question "how did you do it?" by saying "eating less and moving more, and being persistent about it". Once, I did my best wicked-witch impression and said "I'm mellllllting!!"
LOL @ "my clothes grew"!
