Default Soda withdrawl

My name is Natascha and I am addicted to soda. I don't like diet either give me the real thing! I'd rather drink water than diet soda!
Since I've started WW I haven't had any soda. My husband is in awe that a 12 pack has lasted more than 48 hours. So I thought I was doing good by not drinking soda and instead drinking things like Minute Maid fruit Punch and Juicy Juice, but when I looked at the label of these drinks I notice that they have just as much sugar as soda!
What do you like to drink that is "diet" friendly?

Tea! It's zero calories too. There is a thread you can find in the Fab Food section about tea.

Yeah, juice can definitely be deceiving You think it's from fruit, so it's gotta be better than soda, right? Then you see that label and reality strikes--some juices are even WORSE than regular soda! And many juices only have about 10% actual fruit juice.

I have become a fan of flavored waters, although I don't like carbonated water, so I stick to things like Propel and Fruit2O. I don't care for Crystal Light, but I DO like sugar-free Kool Aid (especially grape and fruit punch). I do drink diet soda, but only certain kinds. For instance, we go to Subway quite often, but I just can't handle Diet Coke--yuck! So I fill my cup about 3/4 with Diet Coke and then the rest of the way with regular Coke. It's just enough to give it some real flavor without having ALL the calories and sugar. I also really really like Coke Zero--I think it tastes MUCH more like regular Coke than Diet Coke. I can also do some diet root beer once in a while.

I'm odd, I guess, because I can't stand coffee or tea. Nope--I've tried many flavors/varieties of tea, both hot and cold, and I just can't stand the stuff So for me, it's lots of water, Coke Zero, some sugar-free Kool Aid, and skim milk (I like to drink milk with meals a lot, as that's how I was raised). If I'm cold at work and need a hot drink, I have some sugar-free hot chocolate.

Oh, and I do really like juice, so I sometimes buy the "light" versions. They still usually have sugar and calories, but they're not quite as bad. This week, I had a real craving for cranberry juice, so I bought a 4-pack of Ocean Spray Light Cranberry Cocktail. They're little 12-ox bottles, and each bottle only has 60 calories, and since they come in the little bottles, I don't have to worry about pouring too much into a glass. I've also seen my other favorite juice (white grape peach) in a "light" variety, but I haven't tried it yet. Like I said, they've still got sugar (as any fruit juice will anyway since fruit has sugar in it) and calories, but it's still a great improvement from regular juices.

I like flavored seltzer water...the kind that doesn't have any sugar or even artificial sweetners. Polar was one brand that I loved when we lived on the east coast. They had lots of great flavors...even a pomegranate one! Unfortunately, they don't have that out here in CA. I have found a couple of good brands out here with flavors such as lemon, lime, berry, and mandarin orange.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions! I can't stand tea and I don't drink coffee but the Crystal Light suggestion might work! I tried it for the first time yesterday and it was not so bad! I have seen Tropicana light juices somewhere but when I went to Kroger they didn't have it so I will keep looking...
Thanks everybody!

Lovemygordie, have you ever heard of New York Seltzer? I drank it when I was in high school (15 moons ago) and I loved it! I cant find it anywhere! I would be willing to try that again if I could find it here in Tn. I work at a food court restaurant and lately I have been getting requests for the soda water out of the machine! I have not tried that as of yet.

All that is is plain carbonated water--seltzer with no flavoring. I find it quite disgusting, but I had a lot of customers who would drink it with slices of lemon or lime (I worked as a waitress). I can't handle it because all I can think of when I get it is when I order a Sprite and you take a sip, and BAM, you find out that it's NOT Sprite because the machine was out of syrup--YUCK!

Gatorade is a good lower calorie choice. It has a lot less sugar than soda!

Something I did today was ,,,using my magic bullet I ad fresh cranberry juice, to a container full of ice,,,chopped it all up then poured into a fancy HUGE glass then added more water...went out on the deck and relaxed for a half hour. The juice was very watered down but it was cold and the sun was hot and it felt wonderful. I normally pour everything into a one litre container and drink that all up. Great way to get 1 litre in...
I am talking about 1 cup of the juice per litre container with the rest being water.

I like flavored seltzer too, with no sweetening. But here's a way to make it even tastier! Put about 1/4 cup fruit juice (Welch's grape is my favorite) into a water bottle (16 oz) and fill it with sparkling water. I only do that once a day maximum; rest of the time it is water, and I do still have my coffee.

But Gatorade still has a LOT of sugar in it, and I just read (searching the net) that it still has the same amount of calories as soda.

Just my two cents for what it is worth...

I am a diet coke drinker, plus have coffee and lots of water. I love to squeeze fresh lemon into a glass of ice water and use splenda to sweeten it. This tastes good to me. I know what you mean about diet soda, when I first started my weight loss journey, I hated it. Now, I'm used to it and it doesn't bother me. Diet Sprite and Diet 7-up were easier for me to stomach at first.

I vaguely remember New York Seltzer...I think...I definitely haven't seen that around though.
