You know, I've never really paid attention. Mostly because I avoid the scale when I'm on my period.
I believe the water gain comes before the period starts and then you gradually lose it throughout the cycle, but I can't be sure. However, I do know that if I feel any water retention at all, it's before I start. Sometimes my feet will get a little swollen, I can just 'feel' the water in there and I'll know I'm going to start my period soon. Then a couple of days after I've started, it goes away.
thank you i do not want to get on the scale until after that but was not sure because i got on the scale a day before i started and it said i lost a pound at least i did not gain but was hopeing more would come off.
I always gain water weight. I notice that I usually start gaining it a day or two before I actually get it. I usually avoid the scale that entire week so I'm not sure when it actually goes away. I just know I am not going to be pleased if I weigh myself that week!
I also skip my weigh in day right around my TOM (which is now). I usually gain water weight about 2-3 days before the TOM also. Since I didn't weigh in last week, I will hopefully have a good weigh in day this saturday.
Well, two weeks ago was TOM for me, and I noticed a couple days before and the very day after it ended, the scaled jumped up 7 pounds and back down 8 pounds. I hated it, but I knew it would go away.
well sometimes it can be from eating a lot of carbs or sodium, but you will usually gain water weight about the time of your period, but it should go back to normal once you've finished your period.
I try to weigh every morning (I know, not good, but I can't help it) and I noticed that the morning of the day that I am going to start I usually weigh around 5 lbs more. The day after my TOM stops my weight goes back down.
