Don't exercise then ... just increase your activity. I'm no sport. I shiver if I have to type the word cardio (yuck ptewy).

I eat at night. Always have probably always will. I just spread my calories out.

You should not be hungry! There are guru's out there who can make 1200 cals enough food to prevent hunger.

Do you have a fitday account that you can link us to? Maybe we can help you sort out your 'feedings'.

Seconding/thirding/gazillioning the "need for exercise" part.

Oh boy, I wished I had tried this sooner. Indeed, if you at least somewhat like dancing activities, it can be a very good type of exercise. I never see time flow when I do that, and this is a very new feeling for me (on normal cardo stuff, I always check my wristwatch every 2 minutes to see if it's over soon !)

The problem with exercise, really, is that it's hard to stick to a routine that bores/annoys you. Honestly, after several months, the only thought of getting on a bike to get some cardio done and lose weight was making me feel like puking (yes, even for a ride in the country)--and probably is the reason why I've slacked off with that. Just like eating better, it's something that can't be totally stopped once the pounds are off... so might as well find suff that remotely interest us!

Regarding DDR, if you'd like to give it a try--there's a free game of the same kind, called Stepmania (www.stepmania.com). I use it on my PC with a USB dance pad. You can also download additional songs once you're bored with your regular ones. With this, I must admit I find it hard to be bored, in fact

Hi.. my name is Karma and I too am an ex- exercise loather.
I really understand where you are coming from cinnamonspice, but soccer girl is right. Once you get up and move it will become a part of your day that you look foward to. It is a great stress reliever... Start off with something you enjoy, for me it was dancing. Start slowly, if only 10 minutes a day. Gradually increase your time. I know that part of my issue with exercising was the misconception that a workout had to take place in a gym and last 2 hours to reap the benefits.. so untrue. I started with 10 minutes of dancing to my favorite songs everyday about a 2 months ago now I am up to at least 30 minutes plus 20 minutes of strength training.
We are cheering for you.... you can do it...

If you don't want to do traditional exercise, just work more activity into your daily life. Walk up a flight of stairs instead of taking the elevator, walk up the escalator instead of standing. Park in the farthest spot in the parking lot and walk quickly into the store. When you are picking up a few things at the market carry a basket with you instead of pushing a cart. Little things add up. Think about what you can do in your life as it is now to gradually increase your activity levels.

Just chiming in with the others to offer some support! All the advice given should really help you stick with it

Don't worry about the scale! 2 weeks may seem like a lot, but it really isn't. My weight stayed pretty much the same, give or take half a pound up or down for something like 5 weeks if not a bit more. Just keep going with what you are doing and keep an eye on your calories, making sure you're not eating too much OR too little!

As for exercise, I've lost weight in the past without exercising. I lost 40+ pounds but it didn't stay off. It missed me so much it came back with some friends! So this time, I exercise and actually do enjoy it! Who would've thought! Not saying that I don't drag my feet on some days...especially when I look at the clock and it's past 9pm and I haven't exercised yet...it's a sad sight to see... LOL But I kick myself in the behind and get it done and feel much better afterwards. The thing I like best is that on weeks when the scale doesn't move...I can look in the mirror and *gasp* see some definition in my arms and legs...and my clothes fit better as an added bonus. I'm a size 16/18 right now and last time I was this weight, I was nowhere near a size 16...so working out has definitely had it's perks.

As for eating, I go to bed pretty late so I do eat after 6pm. I think the most important thing is to keep your total calorie intake within your range, and preferably spread that out throughout the day. On days when I have a bigger meal for dinner, I'll keep my evening snack lighter, but if I didn't eat much for dinner, I'll have a bigger snack. As long as you don't eat a huge meal then plop into bed, I don't see the harm in it. 6pm is fine if you go to bed early! But if you go to bed at midnight, there's nothing wrong with eating something later in the evening!

Anyway...I'm writing a novel here lol Good luck and don't give up! Noone's expecting you to turn into an athlete overnight, just moving more throughout the day is a good start. I watch the Olympics to inspire me...I figure, if they can do all that training just for a chance at a medal, I can surely do a fraction of what they do for my health

I found it really helped me to break down what I disliked about exercising. For me it was fear. Fear of having an asthma attack, of doing something wrong, of falling down in front of everyone etc. And all those things have happened to me. Oh and when I lost 20lbs and didn't realise I would need to buy a new swimsuit until I looked down whilst swimming front crawl and realised my tankini top had fallen off and my boobs were about to float into the Atlantic! I survived all these things!!!! And now I laugh when I think how anxious I was about exercising.

I joined 3FC precisely to get help with exercise.

I wanted to exercise because in my research I learnt that by and large, those that maintain their weight loss long term, are the regular exercisers.

As everyone has said, you'll probably suprise yourself once you start, and you might actually enjoy it. I am now a certified gym junkie.

Oh and on the pedometers, don't buy one, buy two!!! One for your partner or a friend. See who can do the most steps in a day. My partner and I did this when I started out, and it was great fun and very motivating.
