I would like to do IF 7 days. But my body hasn't gotten used to it yet. I'm also having to move my late night snack up to 7.30 to 8 pm. I'm trying to add in more veggies.Made vegetable soup for tonight. have never been a veggie person. I've been logging my food on my fitbit to keep everything together. I've text with my older sisters son tonight. He was filling me in on their health and well being. I'm under calories and my calories burned is around 1400. Only 15 minutes on my stamina bike. I started getting short of breath. And steps were under 1500. Still concerned about the weather but we had sleet instead of freezing rain. Temperatures are still in the teens. So I will keep the water dripping another couple of nights. I do not want to haven frozen pipes. Think this is getting better. Even had 10 ounces of water today which is better than none. |
Another 13 hour fast. Think my body is getting used to the new way.
it was sleeting again while ago with lightening , weird. I'm concerned with the goings on between Russia and Ukraine. Update I rode the stamina bike again for about 10 minutes. Calorie burn is over 1400 calories eaten over 1400 but below 1600. My fast tonight is starting at 8.30 Built a fire 🔥 itonight in the fireplace. The house was chilly. |
The sun is shining this morning but still very cold. My street and driveway are still iced over but the main roads should be clear. Om still not planning on getting out today.
my fast didnt start until 10.30 last night due to a late night snack. but i didnt eat breakfast until 10 this morning. I'm trying. on 2/17 I posted my weight as being 185. This morning my weight is 184.4. I'm happy with a 1 pound loss. |

An upward climb to the 40s. I'm happy. Met my calorie burn goal yesterday, but decided not to count calories eaten. Also had a 13.5 fast.. I'm getting there. |
Hi CeeJay52 - I am so happy to find your post on IF. It is so nice to see someone else is doing the journey and we can encourage each other. I will pop in from time to time to encourage each other. I will start a post to stay accountable. Pop in to visit me. Keep up the good work. We can do this!!!

Yesterday went by fast. Went to nephew C's new to them house I love it out there. Walked around 10 minutes without realizing it. And therefore met my 10 minute exercise goal. Yes when I go to the gym I do more but im lazy otherwise. And give myself freedom bc I'm 71 years old. I also met my calories burned goal of 1500 and a 14 hour fast. church this morning. Brought home KFC for lunch. Sibling had made tea. I had my sibling. nephew A and his 3 children and nephew C's 1 year old son to help them out while they were painting etc. It was a rowdy time. And my king bed was full with sibling a 2 year old and a 1 year old. My fitbit recorded that I was very restless and only slept a total of 2.9 hours . Fast has started at 6.30.pm So no food. Going to try harder this next week. |
My first 16 hour fast was from 6.30pm to 9.30 am.. I've met all fitbit goals today. I'm happy. Will try again to make these goals tomorrow.

Ceejay - Awesome job with the 16 hour fast. I too did 16 hours today (3/1/22). I normally average 18-23. Some days I like to switch it up so my body is always guessing.
Keep up the good work. Here is to a good month and reaching our goals. |
Handle intermittent fasting

how do you handle intermittent fasting? I would like to start but I have apprehensions because some say that fasting is dangerous for health. What do you think ? |
Another good day. Calories burned according to the fitbit out weigh my calories eaten and for once in a long time food was half way decent. Went to the gym and rode the Nustep for 30 minutes. I'm not sure where the extra 12 minutes unless it was cleaning the kitchen.
Also made my step goal as i had 5000 plus steps. Only a 12 hour fast. Only has a 12 hour fast. DIDIO55. INTERMITTENT FASTING is normally an 8/16 ratio where the 8 hours is where your food is eaten and no food within the 16 hour window. If you are hesitant please ask your doctor. mom2. Good for you. I'm not sure if I could do a 23 hour fast . Maybe after I've done this for awhile to let my body get used to the idea. |
Hi Ceejay52 - doing a 23 hour fast is challenging. I do not do it everyday. I change it up day to day to keep my body guessing. So far this is Week 3. I am tracking each day to see how my body responds and will look at my overall monthly results to see what works best for me.
DIDIO55 - If you want to learn more about intermittent fasting you should check out the books by Gin Stephens ... "Delay Don't Deny" or "Fast Feast Repeat" These are excellent and easy reads and will help explain the process. |
Back from my Ash Wednesday service. I don't usually drive at night but this was special to me
I've had another 12 hour fast but I started early tonight so hopefully I can get in another 16 hour fast. Went to the gym and rode the NuStep again for 30.minutes and used the lateral pull down machine for upper back and biceps. Also met my step goal and calories. burn goal. Sure do want something to.eat. It's hard breaking a night time snacking habit I'll drink some water. Also met my niece for a very short visit before the service. She lives in Ash Grove and coming home from work. wellness doctor appointment tomorrow for Medicare. I hate these visits. |
Ceejay, I have found that night snacking is really just a habit. If you get truly hungry try eating a little more at dinner. I had that issue when I started delaying breakfast. I thought I was going to starve if I didn't eat breakfast first thing. That was a habit from when I was still working. If I didn't eat breakfast before I went to work I could never last all the way til lunch time. But after retiring I found that I slept a little later in the morning, and now I rarely eat anything before 11-12. It's still breakfast, but not eaten first thing.

Things are going well today. Calorie burn is more than calories eaten. Food has been really good. Wannabe healthy thanks for the tip of eating more for dinner/supper. I did.
went to the doctor for my Medicare wellness check. Doctor was a bit talkative today. All I had to do was fill out a series of questions and doctor looked it over. Afterwards I went to the the park since it was a beautiful day and walked one time around. Took me 20 minutes and I'm still huffing and puffing and sitting down at every bench when I do that trail. Think its due to the asthma and COPD. Plus the trees looked like they were beginning to bud. only made a 12 hour fast night. |
