Thank you all for your responses, many good ideas there!
Unfortunately I can't go slow because I need to lose weight for a hernia surgery, they won't even look at me unless I lose over 100 pounds. It's a big obstacle in my life, I can't find work, have a hard time working out because of it, (it's quite large). I've become very sedentary because of it, then diagnosed with diabetes T2, cholesterol, high BP.

I already cut out sweets by alot, just need to buckle up more and start walking.
Sounds simple on paper, but alot harder to do in real life.

It will get easier! I often feel a tremendous obstacle to just getting started with exercise, esp in winter. What's worked for me is to start with whatever I can get myself to do, no matter how tiny. 5 steps. That will lead to more. An inexpensive pedometer, or something higher tech if you're a gadget lover can be motivating. Ok, I need to folow my own suggestion! Good luck to you--keep us posted
