Sorry I didn't post over the weekend, seemed to be chained to the laundry or the oven the whole time! I am sure son brought every item of clothing he owned to be laundered - I did ask him to bring it because he's just finished 2nd year finals and with boys laundry is least of the priorities but.... Was so tired after work yesterday I was in the bath soaking at 6pm. Willow, I can't get my head around those BMI things, I know when I first joined here I was in the obese category on FitDay and now I am just overweight - yeah! I was sorry to hear of your young friend, such a shame. Chap in work is mad because his mother has just been diagnosed with terminal cancer and he blames the late diagnosis on the fact that she is in her mid 70s and hospital don't care the same for the elderly. I don't know. Angel, so glad you had a good time with the family and got a little building work in too. Your grandkids sound so sweet. I will certainly pray for Chris and the families of the other men. Sheila, I loved your description of your son - the boomerang child, it's lovely. I hope he finds a job and can settle down , maybe the time is right for him now. You have done well to keep up the painting, it has been a big job, hasn't it. Our house is mostly brick with just the windows, doors and boards below the roof that need painting but still seems a big job but not compared to yours. I am taking two weeks leave from work starting next week with the intention of painting the top floor of the front of the house - remember I did the ground floor front a few weeks ago? Thing is I am terrified of heights but DH who is not, is rubbish at painting so, I am going to try and get over the fear just to get it done in a third of the time DH would take. My blood pressure wouldn't take watching him use up the whole two weeks holiday when it would take me a couple of days ha ha. My mother is having a prolapse repair in hospital next week so part of my leave will be spent up north caring for her after the op. I could really do with just spending a holiday chilling but the last week I took off I spent going up to sort her out with psychiatrists etc. My brother has just been away for 3 weeks but he works hard according to my mother so I guess I don't and my holidays are for her exclusive use. Moan over. Hopefully I am back on track now with the eating, haven't had anything naughty for at least two days but I am still stuck on 148lb. OOps , that's a fib, I cooked chicked saltimbocca on Sunday, it's chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella cheese ( I added camembert cheese too) and prosciutto (Italian ham - never heard of it till I did the recipie), and sage leaves then secured with a skewer and each breast wrapped again in the ham and herb then cooked in a white wine and cream sauce - the fresh cream was my own addition, I must confess. I served it with roasted potatoes and steamed cabbage and can thoroughly recommend it. BUT - I was gutted to read the values afterwards, 224.6g Fat PER PORTION! Obviously a now-and-then-meal.

That should read 24.6g fat! Am taking puss cat to the vet on Thursday for more blood tests and although he looks thinner, still eating fish and drinking water like nobody's business.

Sue - well, what can I say? An ace fisherwoman, a hot shot gambler and I suppose you will confess now that you were a whizz at the pool table. Does your legal eagle boss really know you?? Well done on the winnings ha ha.

The time is flying by! I know that summer is really gone, because my heat came on this morning! I couldn't believe it. I am sitting here in a t-shirt and shorts and quite comfortable. This was the fastest summer I can remember. I guess that's what happens as you get older. At least so they tell me. ;) Puss, I must confess, I know nothing of pool. Tried it a few times, but I think it must take a lot of practice. It amazes me to watch it on TV.
The chicken recipe sounds like what we call chicken cordon bleu. Yummy. You may be surprised to see that it revs up your metabolism a bit too.
Well, today is Wednesday and time to face the DW scale. Shouldn't be too bad I hope. DD is off visiting friends for a few days and my eating has been much better. Why, oh why must I stuff my face while she is here. Willow hit the nail right on the head. We would rather die than not have enough food to feed an army (family!) at any given time during their visit. I did check out that website - and maybe I will "just turn up my nose and say no thank you" to anything that is not healthy. I guess we just have to make a conscious effort to really think about what we are eating.
Sheila, NY State had a week where any purchase of clothing or shoes under $110 was tax-free. At anywhere from 7 to 8.5%, if you were shopping for school clothes for several children, it was quite a savings. I was telling my granddaughter that when I started 1st grade in school (back in the olden days) we each got one pair of shoes and one new outfit. If we got "sneakers" we could only wear them for gym at school. Only the poor kids wore jeans with holes in them or clothes that were two sizes too big. They would be right in style now. :dizzy:
Angel, what a great idea to make a "grand" room for the kids. They must love coming to your house, no matter what shape its in. It isn't the wood and brick and glass that makes a house a home. Glad to hear you are feeling a little better.
Time to go get ready for work. Still have not caught up from after vacation. Have a great day all. Sue

Hi everybody...Seems all are pretty busy these days! That, or I'm reading fast! I am running late, as usual!

Willow...I'm really sorry you lost a friend. You're in my prayers. I lost a friend to cancer about 4 months ago. She was older than the lady you knew...but a dear friend. What made it even harder, she knew she was dying & had her children to request I sing at her funeral. That's the hardest thing I've ever done! The Lord helped me, & I got through it. I've had to do that before...I don't mind singing, it's an honor...just hard to sing & not cry.

Fatpuss...hope your kitty is feeling good these days. Sounds like the appetite has picked up. I'm glad.

Sue....sounds like you've had some good days of winning & shopping! Hope your luck keeps holding out.

Sheila...is your son going to help you with the painting? You're so experienced by now, you must be a pro....wish you lived close by so when my house is finally finished, you could help me! Oh, yeah, forgot....we're all gonna be dead of old age, by then!:(

Gotta cook breakfast....I'll check in later.
