I just read a book recommended to me by another 3FC-er that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE and I think it might help you also. It's called Starting Monday by Karen Koenig.
You'll find on 3FC that we each have our own philosophies on weight loss based on the way we've approached it and hearing a lot of different viewpoints is what is so wonderful about 3FC. I hope that more people chime in to respond to you.
For me, I am a BIG believer in the psychological journey as primary and the nutrition and exercise journey as a side effect of it. That's part of why I loved that book so much.
Figuring out what to eat and how much to exercise is a balance that we are all still working on. Even maintainers. And it changes from month to month based on where you are in life and your journey. You'll get there and you'll figure out what works for you. But I would take it from that perspective. It's a big giant science experiment. What works for my body? When something doesn't work, well, that tactic didn't work. It's not your fault. It's the approach. So, try something different.
My personal advice would be to SLOW DOWN! Focus on the psychology road blocks mentioned above - the way your view food, the way you view weight loss - and work through some of those. While you do it, make BABY STEPS in changes to your life now. Swap out small things and make sacrifices that YOU are okay with and WANT to make. Also, for exercise, same thing - find something you LIKE and do that. Just a little bit and just as much as you want. The goal is to find a new routine with new foods and new ways to move your body that YOU enjoy and that you will WANT to do. (And when you change your mind or want something different, try that too and see how it works, going back to the science experiment thought.)
There are some GREAT posts in the archives on 3FC from some women who have lost a lot of weight and gained a lot of wisdom. Spend some time searching for them and really thinking it through. Look up Rockin Robin and DCHound to get you started. There are others, too whose names are escaping me as I'm typing. But look and read and think. There was a thread once about ONE YEAR - I think it's the root of the message that someone posted above. That's a really good one to check out. Go through the archives of the 300+ board and read through those stories.
And keep coming back and posting about your progress and what you are trying and share with us! Honey, we are all on this journey with you. Hang in there and keep growing and learning - I truly feel that weight loss is about self discovery and self care. Hug!
