Amallison - I like Bob Greene's Total Body Makeover, there's a section on emotional type reasons why we might be overweight, a section of exercises, and a section with a synopsis of different diet plans to compare. It's not the most current but I find it helpful, I got it out of the library then decided to buy it.

I also liked Hungry:a memoir by Allen Zadoff, and recently read The Lighter side of Large, which was a lighter but interesting read. They were both ebooks.

There's a thread in General Chatter called What are you reading, you might find some more suggestions there.

Best of luck

Thanks guys, I'll definitely check out the books you recommended.

The hubby and I are going on a cruise in a few months and last night he asked if I'd like to put a wager on it to see who can lose more weight before the cruise. I told him I'm up for it, it should be fun, we're both very competitive so it should also be interesting. However, he doesn't need to lose anything so I'm sure he's just doing it for motivation for me but who knows with how competitive he is he might just make himself wither away simply to beat me...game on!

So much easier to pursue the healthy lifestyle if both of you are participating, good luck and happy cruising

If this is a Freudian slip it's absolutely perfect!

hi people.

i LOVE my dreadmill too actually. it's so cute and wonderful. i just call it that because the thought of getting ON IT is worse than actually doing it!

Soda has always been my downfall. I love it a lot. I have been drinking Mio and Crystal Light. It isn't bad. I have not had a pop (soda) in a month and I honestly do not miss it. I honestly also felt that I just did not know how to eat right. There are some great resources on this site to help. Welcome!
