This happened to me and I'm no where near my goal, but I've also had a sort of make-over too. An old boss was out to lunch with her friends, and I happened to walk by and she was just like, "Oh my gosh, I cannot believe it. You look stunning." It always makes you wonder if you looked THAT bad before.
This actually happened to me twice last week. On Friday and then Sunday, I waited on people that I knew but hadn't seen in years. It was funny to see their blank looks of confusion for several seconds. Even funnier because both of those people knew I worked there, so who else was enthusiastically greeting you with my name on their name tag?
It feels really good to see the double takes, for sure.
I got not recognized last weekend at a car show. A couple that I hadn't seen since "before" were talking to the people next to me (my parents), and had no clue who I was. The husband came up to me later to apologize for "ignoring" me!
I haven't had the experience of not being recognized. I have, however, had a few people whom I hadn't seen in a long time do some double takes and howl something like, "Holy ****! Where's the other half of you!"
I think it's the most awesomest thing ever! I've been getting it a lot lately, because I got a new hairstyle just when the loss was becoming very obvious in my face. (It wasn't planned...the timing just happened that way...and I'm very glad it did.)
