New to all this and I find I'm being obsessive about the scale as well. I will only record week to week and as long as there is a loss I will be thrilled.

SweetTreat80 I love the way you exdplained that because it makes sense, never looked at it that way.

What kind of scale do you have? I had a Weight Watchers scale that I took back because it would not read different unless it was more than a 2 lb difference from the last weigh in. I was constantly having to grab a weight or kettle bell to hold to reset it to get an accurate weight. Could be the scale, in my experience anyway.

Or it could very well just be your body's pattern.

I'm always heavier at night so I only weigh first thing in the morning.

Yeah I'm usually up 2 lb by the end of the night. I use a Weight Watchers scale, it's super accurate because I will weigh just before I go to the actual WW meeting and their scale and mine are the same, sometimes it's off 0.2.

Being so obsessive about weighing myself actually made me feel way better because I realized how much weight naturally fluctuates, therefore, to get hung up on one number when it could literally CHANGE OVERNIGHT showed me that it's not true weight.

I try not to get panicky now if I see a number higher than the day before. Because I know that the next day I could very well be LESS than 2 days before that. Know what I mean? It's just water and fluid and whatever shifting around. It's not actual FAT.

I weigh each morning under the same conditions.

Log it on a calendar above my scale and move on.

What is key for me, is at the end of the month, I take the calendar and my food/exercise journal, and look for trends.

Long term, this is very helpful.
