Default Reality check needed

Please be nice :-)

I just want to hear it from other people...

It's totally normal to fluctuate one or two pounds for nearly two weeks without any significant weight loss, right?

I keep bouncing between 221 and 220, I hit 219.5 one day about a week ago, but otherwise I'm stuck :-(

I don't know if it is "normal", but it has happened to me. I go a couple of weeks, loose 2 lbs, go back up one lb and slowly get back to the oringinal 2 lb loss. It is very hard to stay motivated, I know. You just have to stay with it. I have read a lot of posts that say it is a matter of "comittment". How grown up, right?

Yep that's normal. Of course I always try and look and see if there's an actual reason. Sometimes there is, sometimes there isn't! But ya, normal.

Irritatingly normal. Lots of us get stuck for a while, even when we're sticking to the plan. It's a test of your patience!

My weight loss is always all over the place, as you can see from my chart. I gain gain gain, then drop five pounds in one week. It was like that years ago when I was losing weight from my highest weight ever, and it is like that also now when I get down to those last ten pounds.

There was another post on here that suggested taking measurements as well, and that has kept me motivated for a while, because I have been seeing my gut shrink, even though my scale numbers are all wonky.

Totally normal. That doesn't mean you're not still losing fat at a good clip, but that our bodies do amazing things to try and maintain homeostasis on a cellular level

Agreed - and it's very important to analyze EXACTLY what you're doing because we as people are spectacular and filtering reality into what we want it to be.

Example - someone talks about how hard they're hitting the gym, not losing weight, and eating only 1500 calories a day. But they fail to mention they're eating back their exercise calories and vastly over estimating their exercise calories burned.

Point is - it is totally normal but there might actually be a reason.

I remember one person was counting calories, eating a lot of eggs, and they were counting eggs as 1/4 the actual calories they have.

If you're doing every thing right it is still very normal for weight to stay the same for a while. You're retaining water - for one reason or another - which means if you're doing everything right you'll eventually be rewarded.

((Mozzy)) I have done that
too many times to count. But
I did eventually get where I am.
I know the number I'm at is big
but I have a mess of numbers
behind me. Just keep your chin up
and slay the dragon. Well be here
to celebrate all your victories!!
