I always bloat and gain a couple of pounds within a week of the start of my period along with an increase in hunger and an insatiable desire to snack. Both gradually decrease, but don't fully go away, until my period is over. I usually have a nice little woosh afterward that reflects my true weight and then lose steadily until the next go round. It is annoying, but if you know what is happening it is not nearly as discouraging as it would be otherwise. This is why it is so important to be aware of and take notice of your body's patterns. Knowing helps maintain sanity.
