10 Week Memorial Day Challenge!
:welcome3: There are 10 WEEKS until Memorial Weekend begins! You know what this means...shorts, itty bitty shirts, bathing suits, etc.:stress: I'm all about short term goals...they don't seem quite so unobtainable. My goal for the next 10 weeks is a minimum 4 days of exercise :strong: & 3 lbs weight loss each week. :goodscale Every week I accomplish this I will reward myself with a nonfood treat because of course a healthy diet will only help with my success. :broc: Accountability is a huge motivator for me :write: so I plan on checking in here with the following every Friday: Current Weight - CW Pounds Lost - PL Exercise Days - ED Reward - R So my first entry is: CW - 204 PL - next Thursday ED - " R - I will get a manicure. If anyone would like to come along, I'd love for you to join me! Christine |
this sounds fun.
|
I was trying to find this thread. I like this idea a lot
|
Would love to come along! I am not sure I can do 3 lbs a week because as it is I have been going up and down with .5lbs for 3 months. I am exercising and have lost inches, but the weight is just not coming off.
So my goal will be: Exercise 5x a week (and post what it was) Drink at least 32 oz of water Stay within my points for Weight watchers Weigh in day is Friday - so today: 174.8 Please send support because I am about to fall off the wagon and am hoping this challenge will be a big help! Thank you! |
Hi everyone,
Have not been on point, but managed to lose .5lb last week. Have job interview tuesday and am a wreck. Will be out of town so won't be able to exercise and need to try and do well with my food. Have been the past two days, but who knows when I away. So far have been doing well with food (Friday is my weigh in with weight watchers so this is the 3rd day of my "week") Seems like every time I try to get on track something gets in the way! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! |
i'd like to be part of this....my weight has been hovering around 197-199 for a few months...i exercise pretty intensely about 4-6 days a week depending on my schedule with work and family...im experimenting with the concepts behind South Beach Diet with a focus on good carbs, whole grain etc and slowly switching over to those basic ideas...i also calorie count but found lately that my calories include junk food even if i dont go over my daily limit...i try to stick to 1300-1500 calories per day...some days i eat back my exercise calories, some days i dont...but i need something to keep myself motivated heading into summer
|
I like this!
Current Weight - 242.0 Pounds Lost - N/A Exercise Days - M/W/F Weigh in Fridays :) |
Count me in!!! I'd like to be back down to 145 lbs by Memorial Day. That's alittle over ONE pound a week. I'm setting a slower goal so it doesn't seem too overwhelming right now :)
CW: 156 GW for this challenge: 145 |
I am in! CW is 134.8. I would like to be 125, exercising 5x a week, and able to run 4 miles!
|
I'm joining too - I have a big beach vacation planned for July 1, so I want to step up my game! ;)
cw: 252 gw: 233 exercise: daily calorie goal: 1800 I have been plateaued for awhile now, so I'm hoping that daily exercise might put me over the edge. I'm also committing to logging my calories daily instead of twice a week or so which is what I'm currently doing. GL everyone! PS When is memorial day - is that July 4??? ;) |
I'm in too! I have been sitting at 230 for a long time now and would love to see that number to go down. I am going to California the second week in May and really would like to be around 220.
Good luck everyone :) CW:230 GW:215 (by Memorial weekend) PL: n/a Exercise goal:5-6 days a week Weigh in on Fridays |
I'm in :)
CW:200.6 GW:180.0 PL: n/a ED: Exercising 5 times a week R: Almost back to prepregnancy size of 178 |
I definitely want in on this one! :trampo:
I weigh-in on Tuesdays, so with tomorrow's weigh-in and a last check in the day after memorial day that will be 10 weigh-ins. I am aiming for 22 pounds, so basically 2 pounds a week with a couple extra! Thanks for posting! CW: 236 GW: 214 :exercise: 3 60-minute workouts a week. I currently do two, adding an extra Zumba night starting this week! And 5 20 minute workouts a week. I have really slacked on these, but need to rev it up! Looking forward to posting with everyone over the next 10 weeks! :cheer3: |
Im in! :)
SW:189 CW:180 |
I am glad that you started this thread and I would like to join.
I started my 10 weeks since Memorial Day is my birthday, I weigh in on Tuesdays. cw:319.5 gw:299 ed: 3 x weekly |
I needed a little push to go to the gym tonight - I saw this thread and realized I WILL go!! Thanks :)
|
My first weigh-in of the challenge for me. 2 pounds down! 20 to go! :)
I have been steadily losing 2 pounds a week, which is wonderful. But I do know I could do better on the exercise front and maybe pull a 3 here and there. So my goal for this week is to not find reasons not to exercise and just do it. Adding my extra Zumba class tonight. Looking forward to that. SW: 236 CW: 234 GW: 214 Hope everyone is doing great so far!! Mefirst, hope you're still around and keeping at it. I noticed this post was older than I thought and I didn't see your Friday check in. Hope all is well!! |
Congrats daug!!
Mefirst - I was thinking the same thing! How's it going? WI not until Friday, but I did make it to the gym last night :) Yoga today, and hopefully I will be in the 230's on Friday! |
My goal:
Be under 200lbs by then! I can do this! |
One week down and my first weigh in and measurements.
Started at 319.5 CW: 309 Down 10 lbs and 7.5 inches Exercise is still slow for me. |
I love this!! Great post!
I would love to be in the 150s by then. So that will be my goal :D Current Weight: 171.0 Memorial Day Goal Weight: 159 ..but I'd take anything lower ;) |
Congrats DaugT on your weight loss. My first weigh in is on Friday, hoping for a loss.
|
Hi. I would like to join you ladies. My weigh ins will be on Wednesdays. 8 weeks left for me! I will make my goal 16 pounds, which would put me at 196.
SW 3/14 - 219.8 W1 3/21 - 217.2 W2 3/28 - 212 GW 5/23 - 196 |
Thanks superchick!
What a great week, Sally! A big chunk of your goal conquered already!! Glad to see more and more joining in. It's definitely a great timeframe to be motivated! :trampo: |
Today is another gym day for me. I was going through all my excuses (I don't want to go late, I have to get up early in the morning, I don't want to drive...) and then I saw this thread AGAIN. So thanks again! I will be going to the gym tonight :)
Welcome everyone new! Sally - nice work! |
Wow Sally you are doing awesome. Keep up the good work.
|
I'm in (if a little late). I'd like to lose 20 pounds eventually, but for this time period I'd be happy with 5-10 pounds. I've been working very diligently but only lost 5 pounds in the last 10 weeks, so...
Current Weight: 141-145, depending on the time of day... Goal Weight for Memorial Day: 135 My backstory: I was a competitive gymnast and swimmer as a kid, the kind of kid who eats whatever she wants and stays relatively slim (though never twiggy). That held through most of my 20s. Until...I broke my foot in the summer of 2010 and my weight went up to 135. I got pregnant that fall and stopped exercising entirely (bad idea, I know). I had my first baby in July 2011 and didn't exercise at all because I was getting no sleep and still working. Then I tore my meniscus and had knee surgery in December 2011. At one of my doctor's appointments I realized I was over 150 pounds. That's when I realized the weight wasn't going to come off on its own anymore. I had to get serious. Since then I've been working out 2-4 times a week doing cardio (first swimming because that's all they would let me do with my post-surgical healing, then biking, last week added jogging as well). Fitness goals: Run three miles. Get back into the weight room instead of just doing cardio. Food goals: Drink more water. Eat more fruit and less dessert. |
I am a bit late! But thats ok :) Memorial day is May 28th, just about 2 months away. Thats plenty of time for a good challenge goal!
I am currently doing the Easter Challenge, and that is almost over. My goal there is to lose one pant size (Im not quite there, but im close!) I want to change up my challenge goals though, so... 25 pounds! Thats my goal! It will be a decent challenge, but im sure i can do it. Also, i would like to walk 45-60 minutes a day, 5 days a week. I can do this!:carrot::jig: |
Welcome firefly and moon!!!
You're doing awesome at keeping up with the gym, dcapulet! |
Okay, I am new here but I saw this and I like it - it inspired me to take a walk - it was only for 14 minutes but I did it and I feel pretty good about it! I will weigh tomorrow a.m. and return to set my goal with the rest of you!
|
Thanks, DaugT. I seem to have gained weight so far this week despite daily gym visits. Sigh. A little discouraged, but hopefully that's some muscle or something. Will keep coming back to be inspired by everyone else's diligence and progress!
|
Daug - how was your week?
:high: everyone! Welcome and welcome back! SW - 242 CW - 237.8 (4.2) :) |
I weighed in at the same this morning 230. I didn't get to the gym like I wanted due to doctor appointments for my daughter. She has been up almost every night not feeling well and so it just threw things off for me. I guess staying the same is better than gaining. I'll just have to do better next week.
Hope everyone has a great weekend! |
superchick36 Hope your daughter is feeling better quickly!! It definitely throws off the routine as your attention goes right to taking care of them.
Awesome loss, dcapulet !! So far so good for me this week. Thanks for asking. I always get nervous when TOM nears, but trying not to freak about it anymore. It really was a downfall of mine every month before, bloat, gain weight, feel depressed, EAT! Now, it's, ah, whatever, if I am bloated weigh-in day it's a bigger number for me to see the next week. LOL We shall see what happens Tuesday. I got on the Wii Fit for the first time last night in 769 days so it told me! ROFL!!! DH and I took turns on the obstacle course. And it kept me from having the evening snack I was craving! julyfirefly Ugh, definitely can be discouraging, but it will show up eventually on the scale as well if you just keep at it! Wish our bodies weren't such a mystery sometimes!! Welcome MRSS!!! You should feel great about that walk! So glad you're joining us! |
Here's to a good week for all
Thanks, DaugT. It is discouraging, and a total mystery. Back on the horse this week, starting tomorrow if I can get to sleep soon!
Hope everyone (and everyone's kids!) has/have a great week. Best, Julyfirefly |
Hi July- hang in there!!
Daug T - Ugh, TOM. I'm there this week - not sure what that's going to do, but I'm trying to be extra careful this week. On plan today, actually waiting a little longer to eat meals, and drinking tons of water. Gym tonight :) |
TOM; jeans a little looser
Thanks Dcapulet. I doubled down today and actually (**shudder**) ran rather than just biking. Maybe that will help. I did notice that my jeans seem a little loser despite the scale not cooperating, so I'm hoping that's evidence of progress and not them getting stretched out ;P
Good wishes getting through TOM. Never fun. |
July- I'm exactly the same! I'm way more comfortable with biking, although I know running is good too. As long as there is exercise, you're on your way!
I made it to the gym last night, and it was a totally OP eating day - success! Today, 30 min of yoga and OP eating :) |
Well, it was a close one this week, but I managed to squeeze out my 2 pounds again! With TOM expected any second now I am really surprised that happened, but really looking for a good solid 3 pound loss this week. So at this point just want TOM to show up and move out taking the bloat with it!
SW: 236 CW: 232 GW: 214 LOL firefly I give you credit. I cannot run. Have tried many times and just can't do it, despise would be a good description for me and running. LOL dcapulet You are doing awesome! |
DaugT- Wow! You are doing awesome. I wouldn't mind a two pound loss. I just started my TOM so we'll see if I lose this week.
julyfirefly - I would love to be able to run but I get shin splints. clothes getting looser is a great sign you're on the right track :) dcapulet - Sounds like you are doing a really good job hitting the gym. Keep up the good work. My goal this week is to do better tracking my calories and have no excuses for not working out. Hope everyone has a good week. |
