Hi all! Just wanted to give a quick update - the advice I got here was right on track. I took a short break and switched from the bike to the elliptical for most of my exercising and that helped a little. THEN I got fitted for new shoes. Brooks Adrenaline GTS12's - I LOVE these things. In the last couple of weeks, my knee pain has almost completely gone away, my feet aren't hurting like they were before and I've almost doubled the distance I'm able to go before I get tired. The rest of my shoes all put together didn't cost what these did, but they were worth every penny.

Just keep in mind that it won't always hurt.

At my start weight, all I could do was walk. Everything hurt. I was convinced I'd never be able to properly exercise because my joint pain was nearly unbearable. Start easy and work your way up. I don't feel any abnormal pain now. I can hardly believe it!! Strength training is amazing. I feel like the muscle is helping to support all the joints, so they don't cause me pain anymore .

So, keep up the good work, and it DOES get better!

valrock: you're exactly right. with my knee problems, the number one recommendation was to build up my quads. as long as my quads are strong, my knees don't hurt anywhere near as much.
