I work out at 5:30 and I usually have a snack around 2:30 or 3 (fiber bar or nuts) that keeps me from feeling too hungry. If I do have a rumbly tummy, sometimes I'll have a few nuts, a piece of melon, or a piece of cheese. But honestly the workout makes the hungry feeling go away. We eat dinner at 7 pm.

People say a lot of things. Picture this ... you haven't eaten all day and you're "starving". A bear that has escaped from the zoo appears and heads your way. Are you going to be able to run away? Of course you are. Man would not have survived as a species if we could not exercise without eating first.

In fact - if you have eaten and you start exercising your body will adapt quite rapidly to the response you've given it. Just walking for 5 minutes causes your body to slow digestion and lower insulin levels. Start doing intesnse exercise and digest will practically stop and your body replys to the input. That is why you'll get an upset stomach if you start heavy exercise too soon after eating.

People say all sorts of things that are complete nonsense. How many times have you read that you must eat breakfast or you must eat 5-6 times a day to keep your metabolism running or if you don't eat enough your body will go into starvation mode? I can keep going.

Having said that you might choose to eat before you exercise because it makes you feel better or whatever reasons you have but it is not necessary. Just keep in mind there is going to be an adjustment period because your body would prefer not to use fat for fuel. Your body prefers to conserve fat.

<<I've read that your body burns more calories skipping eating before exercise because it taps into your fat storage's or something. Not sure if its accurate or not though.>>

I would guess that it doesn't make a difference if your total calories for the day are the same.
